Many thanks to everyone who participated! If you see any mistakes or omissions in the master list, please email the mods and we'll get it fixed up ASAP.

We'll be editing the posts now to put all the author/artist and beta information in there as well, but it's going to take some time. Please have a little patience; we'll get there.

[personal profile] iwantthatcoat, did you create a separate AO3 name SOLELY so you could leave a misdirecting comment on your own fic???

omfg, they did, they did, they did, and I've been howling with laughter ever since I first understood what they did and why! FOR WEEKS NOW I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THE REST OF YOU TO FIND OUT.

Never again will someone be able to blithely say "but they kudosed it" on the guessing post...! Never. Again. About anyone. Not without the niggling thread of doubt...

It wasn’t *just* about being sneaky. I also wanted to be able to comment on and kudos writers freely without thinking it would affect the game too much. But it was mostly about being sneaky.

YOU ALSO BOOKMARKED YOUR OWN FIC AND MARKED IT "TO READ."

I did expect some scrutiny!

If this new person was suddenly leaving kudos, perhaps someone might be curious enough as to who they were to look at the profile. And a blank one just wouldn’t do. Why not create a basic profile? With a UK profile pic. And bookmark some stuff. ;)

I set it up shortly after last Holmestice.

Turns out I didn’t have to do that because the name only came up when I submitted the fic to the Mods. But it was fun getting in character.

Hah! And I was right! SCFrankles was poking around in my bookmarks—as expected.
I had a feeling my pinchhit would kinda fly under the radar for several reasons. Had to do this one right.

Well, you could just log out and comment/kudos anonymously -- hell, you could even type in your own username into the little anon-username box, if you wanted to be able to have those convos as your own self as opposed to an alternate persona. As long as they're all done while logged out, no one would be able to say for sure which comments, if any, were on your own works.

You and Holmes, you're in this for the drama. :-)

watching y'all conspire, is almost as rewarding as reading the great fics y'all create.

The guessing post is so much fun. :-)

And you're welcome to play yourself, you know.

I realise this is very late in the game but I wanted to check: were you Mrs. Beeton...?

Did it take this comment for the penny to drop, or did you suspect earlier than that? ^____^

Not that I had any real hope that you wouldn't spot who she was. :-)

It wasn't your comment here specifically but the penny did only drop last night ^^"

At the time of the exchange I was curious as to who Mrs. Beeton was. And after the reveal I was thinking: "Well, I'm a bit sad Sanguinity hasn't commented on my fic yet..." But then it all floated away a bit and I went on to other things. Then last night I was looking at my last Holmestice fic again and I realised Mrs. Beeton's comment was a heck of a thorough one to be leaving on the work of a complete stranger.

And I looked at the noses on the emojis... And I went and compared the formatting elsewhere... And then I had a look at the reveal post and a particular comment and realised that two months later I had finally hit upon the truth ^___^

I always did mean to come back and leave a comment as myself, just so you wouldn't think that I had neglected you! That was one of the problems with leaving them all under an assumed name -- the people who might look for a comment from me wouldn't realize that they had gotten one, and we couldn't converse about how much I-personally-me had liked their story.

The other problem with leaving them all under an assumed name, of course, was the problem that I often have with commenting while modding -- it's very difficult to not let my knowledge of who wrote the story influence the comment. Which, when *I'm* trying to be anonymous, too, rather compounds the problem.

(For your story, for example, I VERY much wanted to compliment you on expanding your stylistic range, BUT OF COURSE I COULDN'T DO THAT WITHOUT OUTING YOU. May I say now, I was so thrilled to see how well your efforts to expand your repertory had come out? I know you had wanted to do that, and it was a delight to see the results. It's little wonder that I spilled enthusiasm all over everywhere in that comment.)

But yes, I did rather think you'd spot who Mrs Beeton was: I think she got to most of the stories, and I never really worked up an alternate persona for her before I started, so there was ample data for you to work with.

Well—- Ummmm—- Not SOLEY. I mean, I do intend to publish non-fandom works under that name... eventually. But—

Ok, yeah. Yeah I did.

And I think that you got it anyway (even if it was strictly impossible...or at least *highly improbable*) means you found me out.
