Treat for Graycardinal: By the Seaside
Dec. 16th, 2018 07:57 amTitle: By the Seaside
Recipient:
graycardinal
Author:
luthienberen
Beta: rae_fa
Verse: Murder by Decree
Characters/Pairings: GEN, Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson
Rating: Teen/Mild to moderate violence of depictions of non-sexual mature themes [reference to Jack the Ripper, nothing gory, and reflections on the past and future]
Warnings: Minor Angst then FLUFF, Humour, Slices of Life, Christmas, Friendship.
Word count: 3,275
Author’s Notes: graycardinal had Murder by Decree listed as an option and I couldn’t resist delving into the Holmes and Watson as portrayed by Christopher Plummer and James Mason respectively. This Holmes and Watson are more mature and settled into life with each other, hopefully I’ve captured their spirit.
The title comes from a well-known British song, (which I have heard often and also sang off-key *ahem*), “I do like to be Beside the Seaside”, that admittedly was written in 1907 so a bit after 1888! However, I assure you that the lyrics do not appear in this story, it just fit the feel of fic. :)

Thanks to my beta who has ventured into the rarer Sherlock Holmes adaptions for me!
Summary: After unveiling the sordid conspiracy behind the Jack the Ripper killings, Holmes decides what he and Watson need is a holiday from London and where better than spending Christmas by the seaside?
