[personal profile] holmesticemods posting in [community profile] holmestice
Sorted by category and fandom, all the amazing fanworks created by this round's participants, for your perusal and entertainment and with names attached! Now comments can be answered and works reposted all over the web, and pimping shall commence far and wide! If you haven't added your fanwork to the AO3 collection, and you want to, you can add it here: Holmestice Exchange - Summer 2021. If your work has been on AO3 all along and is in a fast-moving tag ("Sherlock (TV)" or "Sherlock Holmes/John Watson", for example), you might choose to update its publication date to today, so that your work has its turn at the top of the tag.

Please come back and join us for our fall round! Sign-ups will open in September. You can follow us at [twitter.com profile] holmestice (twitter), [tumblr.com profile] holmestice (tumblr), or [community profile] holmestice (dreamwidth) for updates!

But there's no need to wait until September for more Holmesian goodness -- [community profile] watsons_woes is running their July Writing Prompts festival for the entire month of July! All kinds of works are welcome (fic, art, vids, etc.), as are all Holmesian verses, and all levels of commitment -- from just once to daily! Please see this post for more information on joining the fun.

And now, without further ado, the Grand Reveal!

Many thanks to everyone who participated! If you see any mistakes or omissions in the master list, please email the mods and we'll get it fixed up ASAP.

We'll be editing the posts now to put all the author/artist and beta information in there as well, but it's going to take some time. Please have a little patience; we'll get there.

Oh my goodness, SO many people being extra-sneaky this round, how delightful!! My hat is off especially to Gray Cardinal, I would never have looked for him in the Elementary section, well played, sir!

Also delighted by Sang confounding everyone as usual. And I'm laughing so much that tepidspongebath became the nexus of Mary Sutherland fix-its this round, having both written one and received one! The fact that my fic was about telepathy while I was apparently being brain twins with my recipient gives me a warm glow :)

Congrats, everyone! Thank you for all your wonderful works <33333

Heh. I wouldn't have looked for me in Elementary either, but I kept eyeing the parts of my recipient's signup promoting a time-displacement theme, and thinking that that would be fun to apply to the Elementary characters.

And then serendipity came calling. Like some of our moderators, I'm based in the Pacific Northwest - and as it happens, some of my direct ancestors come from the southwest corner of Washington state, going back a number of generations. I was therefore already familiar with the incident I co-opted for Matters of Luck by way of family stories - but I had not realized, till looking further at the relevant online sources, that one of the players in the affair shared a last name with a particular (briefly) recurring Elementary character whose arc had caught my eye. And on that bit of lucky coincidence, I was able to hang a plot. (Before anyone asks: no, there are no Cardinal ancestors actually onstage anywhere in the story, although it would not have been hard to put some there.)

Yes, the time travel element should have been a bigger clue as to your authorship -- these things are always clearer in hindsight, lol! That's so cool, though, that your family history led you to delve into the real historical documents, and what a coincidence about the Elementary character falling perfectly into place! I love it when that sort of serendipity strikes :) Bravo on both the story and the sneakiness this round!!

I too was endlessly amused by the Mary Sutherland coincidence! There was a fair amount of cackling when I first saw the summary of your brilliant fic. *offers a brain-twinning high five*

(Now I have to get around to reading everything else, I'm late to it but quite excited.)

So. i changed all my ellipses to “. . .” which is, like, the one thing I *never* do. But I missed it a few times, which made it just plain inconsistent, which I *always* do! So in my attempt to deceive I was more me that ever. ;) I also was hoping the vaguely Johnlockary feel and the style of beta-thanking (I used her thank you word for word) and the single dash (also not my style) would throw some folks off my scent and toward Vulgarweed, But alas! I simply don’t proof for internal consistency well enough. Even when I am trying to be someone else.
But hey. If I managed to do a universe I’ve never read a thing in before seeing the request well, that’s good enough for me!

What a MARVELOUS round! Such a great and varied group of works in many fandoms and styles – and may I point out, we have *57* works this round! (47 main works + 10 treats.)

I haven't had a chance to read/view *any* of the works all the way through yet, because life got in the way and what time I did have, I needed to be doing mod things. But I absolutely plan to get to all of them, because I want the opportunity to tell you all how wonderful you are!

[personal profile] sanguinity!!!! You move like a phantom through this exchange. I'm honored to have a gift from the fae! In a fandom you didn't offer and have never written...I'm floored. I would not have guessed.

And you captured the style so perfectly - went bollicks to the wallicks.

In the words of the Archangel Gabriel: THANK YOU FOR MY PORNOGRAPHY

Commenting both to thank the mods and also to gloat! It's my first Holmestice exchange as an undetected creator, mwahaha! And I correctly guessed the author of my own gift! Pride, of course, goeth before a fall...

Most importantly, of course, thank you, mods!! and to the fellow-participants who make this exchange so much fun.
