Please let me recommend sherlock60's Round 5 Discussion Posts. scfrankles spent over a year compiling historical linkspams on topics inspired by the original canon stories, and then generously shared what she learned with all of us. I highly recommend the collection for anyone needing inspiration or background for Victorian- or Edwardian-era fanworks!

I can beta fic for narrative structure and SPAG for most 'verses, but if you need canon knowledge or help with voice, then just ACD (and I'm no expert) and BBC. My ear for British English and for anachronism is decent but I am neither British nor an expert in Victoriana.

I'm really sorry I couldn't do a story this time, but too many health problems kinda knocked me out of this round. However, I'd be glad to Beta.

I'm an American, so Brit-picking might not be my primary skill, but I am also an English major and a grammar and spelling nerd who has a lot of familiarity with Victorian-era language and culture, also horses and horse-drawn transport. I know the ACD Holmes stories quite well and have written quite a few in that genre. I could certainly help out with continuity or character issues, or just general story-line development.

Ratings: Pretty flexible - I won't beta daddy!kink, BDSM, incest or watersports/scat, but otherwise I'm game!

I'm American, but have lived in the UK, and also write for the Harry Potter fandom (so there's a lot of Brit-picking there), and I feel very comfortable with British idioms/slang, etc. I love the Oxford and AP Style comma equally, so the preference is yours. SPAG, continuity, and flow of the story are my strengths. Darker aspects are no problem as far as content.

I have written for the Sherlock fandom... a long time ago, in a galaxy far... very far away, but I'm more than content to beta/read in the fandom these days. If you are interested, drop me a line via DM or email.

Types of fanworks you can beta: I guess just text based? I don't know how you'd even beta a video.
Fandoms: Granada, to a lesser extent canon, BBC.
Pairings: I can't really accept Sherlock Holmes being paired with a woman. Though I am happy to explore the idea that Holmes may be a woman.
Ratings: So far the only thing that's really triggered me is legal loss of autonomy, and abusive relationships where the abuse isn't escaped by the end.

I am a Brit with an interest in theatre, but I have a smattering of trivia in many subjects. I still don't know if there is an established method to betaing, I have a tendency to get involved and make suggestions, so you might need to tell me to stop.
