[personal profile] holmesticemods posting in [community profile] holmestice
UPDATE ON APRIL 23rd:Comments on this entry are now screened so a sign-up doesn't sneak in and we miss it. Feel free to ask questions here though!

The sign-ups are now open!

If you want to take part in the exchange (and have a Dreamwidth account), all you have to do is join the Dreamwidth community and create a new post using the template below with your offer and request. The template is designed to be used with the HTML editor (not the Rich Text editor).

If you do not want a Dreamwidth account, you can leave your sign-up as a comment on this post, either using the "Anonymous" option or by using your LJ OpenID. If you choose to use the Anonymous option, please make sure you correctly fill in all the identifying info in the template, so we know who signed up and how to contact you.

The sign-up template below includes ratings for what you're willing to create and would like to receive. Sexual content is deliberately separated from violence and other mature themes, so if you are someone who enjoys PWP but not violence, you have an easy way of indicating that (or vice versa) for the mods and other Holmestice participants.

The template also includes a list of suggested Holmesian fandoms and iterations. This is not an exhaustive list -- if you have another fandom in mind, please include it in your sign up! Alternatively, if you're open to offering or receiving any Holmesian fandom, please feel free to say so.

Please note when putting down relationships:
  • "/" (e.g., "Holmes/Watson") indicates a romantic or sexual relationship
  • "&" (e.g., "Holmes & Watson") indicates a friendship or other platonic/fraternal/non-sexual/non-romantic relationship

Do please make sure you're using / and & correctly in your sign-ups, as we do use it to determine matches, and your match will use it to determine what sort of relationships to write for you.

Use the following template.

You can edit your post until sign-ups close on April 22. Anything you add or delete after that will not be taken into account.

All stories must be a minimum of 1,000 words in length; icon posts must contain at least 10 icons; vids must be at least one minute in length. Any type of fanwork is required to go through some kind of beta process. All finished fanworks must be posted to AO3 and/or sent to the mods at holmesticemods(at)gmail(dot)com on or before May 31st. Directions on how to post/submit your work will be posted to the community later in the round. If you don't submit your work by the due date and have not contacted us for an extension, we will automatically look for a pinch hitter.

Please remember that if you sign up to receive a gift, it'll only be fair if you create one as well. That said, if you have to drop out of the exchange for any reason, please e-mail contact one of the moderators as soon as possible or e-mail us at holmesticemods(at)gmail(dot)com so we can find a pinch hitter to create a gift for your intended recipient. If you need your recipient to clarify their prompt or ask if they're all right with that one particular thing you'd like to include, please contact us, and we'll forward the question for you to preserve your anonymity.

If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out!

I will create:
A fanwork of the following type(s): fic
In one or more of the following parts of fandom: Books: Doyle - Canon; TV/Film:Granada TV Show; Ritchie Films; Sherlock BBC; Whitehead!Holmes Comics/radio/other: John Taylor - Sherlock Holmes: The Rediscovered Railyway Mysteries and Other Stories (audio book read by Benedict Cumberbatch)
For one or more of the following relationships: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson aka Johnlock
I like working with one or more of the following categories: Fluff; Angst; Post-Reichenbach; Romance; Established Relationship; Humor; Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence
With any of the following ratings: 1) suitable for general audiences; 2) non-explicit sexual content; 4) mild to moderate violence or depictions of non-sexual mature themes
I am willing to create for the following squicks and/or kinks: "None" I want to receive:
A fanwork of the following type(s): art, fic, podfic
In one or more of the following parts of fandom: Books: Canon; TV/Film:Sherlock BBC; Whithead!Holmes; Rathbone!Holmes.
For one or more of the following relationships: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson aka Johnlock
I like stuff in the following categories: Fluff; Angst with a Happy Ending; Post-Reichenbach; Romance; Established Relationship; Case Fic; First Time; Friendship; Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence
With any of the following ratings: 2) non-explicit sexual content; 4) mild to moderate violence or depictions of non-sexual mature themes;
I wouldn’t mind any of the following squicks and/or kinks: None.

Please include further details about what you’d like to receive: I want Sherlock Holmes and John Watson in love, living in 221B, and solving crimes. Nothing too graphic; a "slice of life". Case!Fic would be perfect, but I know how difficult it is to write. I prefer Angst over pure Fluff.

Special requests: I would love to write more!Holmes, or some domestic scene, or another Victorian trivia flashed/slashed for Johnlock.

Make sure to move this to a new post.

Not as a reply to this post, but a post by itself.

I don't trust the muses' reliability enough to sign up as a regular exchange member - believe me when I say it would likely end up in frustration all around. :-) But I would like to formally volunteer as a pinch-hitter or beta reader. Should it be necessary:

Fandoms - BBC, Ritchie, Doyle, Granada, Great Mouse, TPLOSH; will beta others if specific canon knowledge not necessary
Pairings/Characters - any, though I prefer gen or slash/femslash to het
Ratings/Warnings - will write or beta Gen-Explicit, prefer not to write/beta graphic gore

Please contact me at marta-dot-fandom-at-gmail-dot-com if I can be of help.

ETA: As I have no artistic skills to speak of, I'm only offering written fic or meta, but will happy to offer constructive feedback on any medium (for what it's worth).

Thank you so much! We'll be in touch if we have need!

ETA: And now that we have a beta post up, would you be so good as to repeat the beta part of your offer there, so that people who are in need can find you? Thanks much!

This breaks my heart, but I'm not able to sign up for Holmestice this year – I have too many extremely important "real" life responsibilities in exactly the same timeframe as the Holmestice deadline. :-(

Would you please put me down as a potential pinch hitter? There's no guarantee I'll be available for that either, either, but there's at least a better chance of it – my schedule most likely clears up at the start of June. I can write BBC and various More Holmes fandoms...same as last time's sign-up, plus possibly a couple more, if I have time to read them before then. Please do ask if needed!

Boo, we'll miss you!

And yes, we'll put you down as a pinch-hitter. Good luck with the extremely important responsibilities!

Thank you! And heh, looking back at that, I made myself sound FAR more important than I am. Just have a bunch of deadlines during that time, that's all. Not earth-shatteringly important to anyone but me. :-)

Actually, you sounded exactly like someone who really wanted to do Holmestice, but who was talking very sternly to themselves that no, these other deadlines were too important to one's education or career to suffer being half-assed when Holmestice inevitably started sucking up more time than was initially budgeted. :-)

I admire your fortitude in abstaining this round, and may your strength of purpose win the day re your deadlines! And I do hope that come June you'll have enough time to read and comment and guess -- and perhaps even pinch-hit!

Aw, yes, you interpreted that exactly right! I have basically all my coursework deadlines one after another in May...plus a grant I need to apply for, due June 1. Eek! That does hopefully mean some breathing space if I can just make it to June, but it's hard to even see that far at the moment.

I too would be happy to pinch-hit: ACD Holmes, BBC Sherlock, or My Beautiful Detective.

Contact by DM, or you probably still have my email.
