Please let me recommend sherlock60's Round 5 Discussion Posts. scfrankles spent over a year compiling historical linkspams on topics inspired by the original canon stories, and then generously shared what she learned with all of us. I highly recommend the collection for anyone needing inspiration or background for Victorian- or Edwardian-era fanworks!

I can beta fic in ACD and BBC; though my knowledge of canon for the former is spotty, I have a good ear for period idiom and for anachronism. The themes and tropes I would not like to work with are pretty much the same as noted in my signup post. Otherwise, I'm game for pretty much anything. I can also beta for SPAG and narrative structure in most 'verses.

Types of fanworks you can beta: fic
Fandoms: Doyle (really, really familiar), Without a Clue, Whitehead Holmes, Newman Moriarty, A Study in Emerald, Granada, MDBD, Lego Hound (you never know...), Ritchie movies (I’m solid on characterisation but it has been a long time since I’ve actually seen the films), BBC (better with series 1 & 2; I’ve only seen series 3 & 4 when they first aired). But I’m willing to beta fics in any ‘verse as long as you don’t mind I’m not familiar with them.
Pairings: Most pairings as long as they’re not incestuous. For BBC specifically, I’d prefer not to beta fics with pairings involving Eurus or Moriarty.
Ratings: At my best at G and PG, easing up to PG-13.

I can Britpick as well as beta. I’m no expert but I do have a fair knowledge of the Victorian and Edwardian eras. I’m excellent and thorough at SPAG, sentence structure and general story structure. For BBC specifically, I’d prefer not to beta anything that heavily involves Eurus or Moriarty, or that treats Mary as an outsider and ‘baddie’.

I know basically nothing about Elementary, but I do live in NYC and am good at "what is X neighborhood like", "how can a person get from here to there and how long would it take", "do people really buy falafel from a cart", "what's a bodega and why does it have a cat" types of things.

If anyone is still looking for a fic beta, I am willing to help. I am good at SPAG and can also give reader reaction--this works for me, I laughed at this part, I was confused here, etc. My turnaround time is generally quick, though I am busy May 25-27.

The only fandom I am familiar with is BBC Sherlock, but I am willing to beta other universes if you don't mind my lack of familiarity with canon. I am open to any pairings and content or rating. The only thing I will not read or help with is evil Mary/John didn't love her. Anything else I am willing to do. I'm American if that makes a difference.
