Title: The Case of the Oblivious Detective
Recipient:
colebaltblue
Author:
luthienberen
Beta: rae_fa
Verse: Petr Kopl Victoria Regina Series; Basil the Great Mouse Detective; ACD Canon
Characters/Pairings: Holmes/Watson, Canon Characters, Original Female & Males Characters, Basil of Baker Street, Dr David Q Dawson
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: Period Typical Views, First Time, Romance, Humour, Friendship, Case Fic
Word count: circa 10, 595
Author’s Notes: I have based my story for ColebaltBlue on the Petr Kopl Sherlock Holmes comic series, which is full of cameos of other in/famous characters and an interconnected storyline across the comics. In them people allude to the “true” nature of Holmes and Watson’s relationship, insinuating that it is less than platonic. Holmes tends to be oblivious to the meaning behind these accusations (depending on which point of the story you are reading).
For the sake of the fic, I have chosen to expand on Holmes’ obliviousness and play with the fact that Watson, after moving back in in The Empty House felt compelled to move out again due to potentially damaging reputational rumours, which Holmes is not entirely happy about.
Also, Watson in the comics is rather short (four feet!) just in case anyone wonders about the height difference.
Summary: Two grateful clients offer the use of a secluded cottage for Holmes and Watson to spend time together. Watson is determined to use the opportunity to demonstrate to Holmes exactly what people – including their clients – are referring to vis-à-vis one consulting detective and one medical doctor.
