A Holmesian Solstice

This is a community for the 2010 fanworks exchange in the Sherlock Holmes fandom(s). All 'verses and all types of digital fanwork are eligible and we accept any and all characters and pairings; there's no limit to the fun!

The exchange will be modelled on various Secret Santa exchanges, i.e. each participant will be assigned an intended recipient for whom ze will create a gift story/doodle/manip/fanmix/set of icons/vid/other digital fanwork. The artists and authors will remain anonymous until the Master List goes up on January 1st. Please note that this is a non-denominational exchange, but the default assumption for the time of year might be Christmas; if you absolutely don't want to receive a Christmas-themed gift, please note so in the do-not-wants of your sign-up post. Likewise, art and stories don't need to have anything to do with any type of December holiday unless the recipient specifically asks for it.


Timeline:

26 Sept		Sign-ups open
8 Oct		Sign-ups close
17 Oct		All assignments sent out
27 Nov		Art and stories are due
1 Dec		Posting starts
21 Dec		Posting ends
1 Jan		Authors and artists are revealed

If you want to take part in the exchange, all you have to do is join the community and create a new post with your gift request once we've formally opened the sign-ups. A template will be provided for you. Why a post of your own instead of a comment? So you'll have enough space to tell your mystery author/artist all about the things you do and do not like.

All stories have to be a minimum of 1,000 words in length, icon posts should contain at least 10 icons. Any type of fanwork is required to go through some kind of beta process. Any questions, please leave a comment here or e-mail the mods at holmesticemods@googlemail.com.

If you don't have an LJ account, but wish to join the exchange nonetheless, you can do so! We'll put up a post for you once the sign-ups start, and you can comment there with your request. The posting of art and stories will be mirrored at holmestice, but the sign-ups will be managed through LJ only to avoid modly confusion.


Please remember that if you sign up to receive a gift, it'll only be fair if you create one as well. That said, if you have to drop out of the exchange for any reason, please e-mail contact one of the moderators as soon as possible or e-mail us at holmesticemods@googlemail.com so we can find a pinch hitter to create a gift for your intended recipient.
