I like working with one or more of the following categories:
AU (see below) • casefic • character-centric • crossovers
• epistolary • fluff • friendship • humor • meta
With any of the following ratings:
1) suitable for general audiences
2) non-explicit sexual content
4) mild to moderate violence or depictions of non-sexual mature themes
5) moderate to explicit graphic violence or depictions of non-sexual mature themes
With regard to squicks and/or kinks, I'm open to writing...:
Per above, I'm not your writer for explicit sexual content. I'm not opposed to sex per se; I'm just more comfortable fading to black or otherwise maintaining a degree of discretion. I am willing and able to write villains who don't shy away from their diabolical schemes or deadly impulses, even the nastier ones; that's what makes them villains. That said, for Holmesian works, I'm unlikely to indulge in gratuitous gore or splatter, victims of villainy will generally not go un-avenged, and villains themselves will find the fates they deserve.
Notes on what I'd like to create:
I'm not a good match for is someone looking for heavy romance or angsty darkfic. As a writer, I'm somewhat more inclined toward character-driven prompts than to pure casefic, but I can and do write casefic, and then of course there are the crossovers (Muppets! Time travel! Alternate Moriartys! A jungle princess! A parrot-headed umbrella! Mice!) and the meta - with tones ranging from cracktastic to introspective to outright musical. I am familiar with a wider range of Holmesian pastiche and media than I can list in any one signup, I've created gifts in fandoms I've not actually been matched on, I'm generally happy to wade into some of the odder corners of Holmesiana, and have I mentioned liking to write - and read - crossovers? As to podfic: I've only recorded one of these to date, but I'd be delighted to land a match for which I can do another.
(Mods: absolutely feel free to consult if necessary regarding possible matches not contemplated by the current signup.)
I want to receive: fic • podfic • music

With regard to squicks and/or kinks, I'd draw the line at...:
I'm not looking for explicit sex/kink onscreen in this exchange; these fandoms and that sort of content simply don't intersect in my head. (Oddly enough, this does not stop me from reading other folks' Holmestice stories including sexual content and appreciating the craft in them.) Indeed, I have no objection to anyone's characters - subject to the informed consent of everyone involved - having whatever sorts of sex lives they so choose.
As to romance: I'm open to most canon-consistent pairings other than Holmes/Watson. In particular, I see potential in 22CEN for Holmes/Lestrade; in Elementary I can see Holmes/Joan (and a lot of other options; that relationship is nothing if not complicated). There are likely other possibilities; with these two exceptions, I'd prefer a story in which romance is not the only significant component.
I also recognize and expect acknowledged villains to commit acts of villainy (possibly including torture, sexual depravity, etc.) in the interests of their evil goals. Just don't overdo the splatteriness of the gore, try not to murder or permanently break our heroes/heroines/sidekicks, and see that the villains are given their due for such evil as they commit.
Notes on what I'd like to receive:
I am vast, I enjoy multitudes. I tinker with the write/receive lists in every new signup; this doesn't mean I've lost interest in the works cycled out, only that I'm adding and subtracting material in hopes that someone will click with me on something I've rotated in.
If there's a Holmesian fandom or relationship I've mentioned in prior signups (or written/received in a prior round) but have omitted here, feel free to scoop up whatever prompts I may have given at the time and run with them. This is a reason I haven't tried to give detailed prompts for everything; if you need more specific suggestions once we're matched, have the mods ping me and I'll be glad to oblige.
There are a handful of books where I have strong opinions and am interested explicitly in fixits; of these; The Adventures of Mary Darling is the one I've formally included in this round. Murphy's research is excellent, but her Holmes reads to me like a badly flawed caricature; she treats Watson with far more nuance. I'd like to see more about any of Murphy's characters except Holmes - or else a Holmes who's been hit over the head so sharply with magic that he's forced to revise his notion of "impossible". Two others, not mentioned above, include Brittany Cavallaro's Charlotte Holmes trilogy - that one goes off the rails very early for me; I'd like to see a version with minimal if any angst and in which her numerous toxic relatives get what should have been coming to them all along. I was also underwhelmed, if not as drastically, by Patterson & Sitts' Holmes, Marple & Poe - that one, I think, needs a back story that better connects its leads (and its villains) to the original sleuths
And last but not least - why yes, I'm as fixated on reading crossovers as I am at writing them. Indulging me at this is totally optional and at any prospective writer's discretion. If you're so inclined, feel free to mix and match Watsons and Holmeses at will, and/or to introduce them to such other fandoms as you like that I'm likely to recognize (see my AO3 works lists). A few suggestions:
• ACD/Pons (Mycroft and Bancroft?)
• Enola & Russell, Mina, or in 22CEN
• for Elementary, TV's Elsbeth and/or "Matlock"
• TNG!Moriarty vs. 22CEN Moriarty
• Holmes & Spock as ancestor/descendant
