*In nearly all forms and universes, so long as it is that Holmes’s “true” Watson - i.e. no Holmes/Jane in Return, no endgame Holmes/Robo-Watson in 22C (though I love it if it’s unrequited from Robo-Watson’s end and all sorts of Complicated Grief Rebound Shit is happening on Holmes’s end), no Holmes/Wt’sn in 23C (though considering that one vaguely flirtatious Holmes line it is acceptable if they bang like once in a Troubled Reboundy Way), etc. In terms of The Great Ace Attorney and its many Watsons, I like both Ryunosuke/Herlock and Yujin/Herlock but prefer the former to the latter, and like the latter only if the relationship begins post-canon, though Herlock can certainly have had a one-sided crush before that. If you want to be extra funny (and put poor, poor Susato through hell), then Herlock dating Ryunosuke and Yujin simultaneously is also permitted and welcome. I don’t normally ship them as mice, in Mr. Holmes, or in Without a Clue, but if the idea is good enough I might be able to be convinced!

A Study in Emerald - I enjoy this short story/graphic novel a lot, and would love to see just about anything from it that included Moran and Moriarty as well as Holmes and Watson - specifically, where Moran and Moriarty are not treated as monoliths of evil, but as the morally-grey people on the wrong side of a conflict that they come off as in Gaiman’s writing of them - two dear friends who care greatly for each other and are simply trying to survive in the nightmare world they live in, just as Holmes and Watson are. If you do art, then I’d love to see them either as depicted in the graphic novel, or with more racially/ethnically diverse designs!

The Great Mouse Detective - This idea’s a bit insane, but hear me out. So out of a pet interest in the First World War, I played this free edutainment game called Over the Top on the Canadian War Museum’s website (playable here - very good but very upsetting and dark, this is only a game for kids in the loosest possible sense), and at one point there’s a rat named Dawson that the soldiers in the rear trenches call their mascot. And y’know how Dawson in Mouse Detective fought in the mouse version of the Second Afghan War? Y’know how ACD Watson enlists in World War I in “His Last Bow”? Gimme WWI for rodents. Gimme Dawson’s experience in the rodent trenches (which I’m guessing were within the human trenches, given that there were constantly problems with rats). Gimme interactions between the rodents at war and their human counterparts. And if you want to riff on the idea of Dawson being seen as a “mascot” for a group of human soldiers, all the better - did he stitch a human soldier’s wound? Do human soldiers leave food and water for mouse battalions in starvation and distress? Surely they can’t communicate normally, but can the humans see the mouse war, every bit as brutal and tragic as their own, running wild beneath their feet…?

Sherlock Hound - The mysterious past of Marie Hudson! I’ve joked with my friends that her agility, driving skills, and prowess with a gun and an axe suggests that she’s got some sort of John Wick-esque backstory. Did she grow up an urchin, taken in by an assassin’s guild and trained to kill? Does her love of gardening and homemaking stem from how it gives her the comfort and control she lacked in her bloody youth? If someone were to harm Hound and Watson, would she return to her past life (you know, like John Wick after the murder of his puppy)? You decide! (And I wouldn’t mind Hound/Watson/Marie happening here, for the record.)

The Return of Sherlock Holmes (1987) - This is a super charming and underrated movie with a just about perfect book-accurate Holmes, and I would love anything more in this universe. Holmes and Jane friendship and case solving would be a delight. Or even just him musing about coming to the future and finding a new, if bittersweet, lease on life. Did Watson write him letters…? He must have. Give me anything you’ve got, and watch this movie if you haven’t - I promise it’s better than it looks or sounds!

Howard Holmes (1954) - I loved Minnie O’Malley from the Texas Cowgirl episode so much, and I loved her banter and interactions with Holmes and Watson even more. So can I see something where she’s hanging out with them again? A case, an art piece, just them having a lunch meeting, anything. I think they should all be longtime friends.

Moriarty the Patriot - Johnlock, of really any variety! Because Lord knows there isn’t enough of it in Patriot fandom. (Frankly, I see most of that manga/show’s cast as a huge consensual polycule, but I imagine Johnlock is the first one that actually becomes an established relationship before Mary and Miss Hudson and Lestrade and Bonde and William join the mix.) Ritchie films - The only request where I would specifically like it to be art, and not either art or a fic (and even then, that’s only because I already posted a fic where this happens): a Moraniarty pigeon feeding date. I want to see them being unexpectedly tender to cute birds while casually discussing weaponry and nefarious plans. I want them to be, like, bad people still, but also very much in love with each other on a genuine level. Sherlock Holmes in the 23rd Century - I would sincerely love to see poor Holmes get sent back to his proper period and his proper Watson. How is this managed? Does he still have lightning powers? Up to you! (Also, I find it very hard to believe Mycroft would have biological children, so if you can come up with a fun adoption backstory for his descendant, I’d love that too.)

The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes’ Smarter Brother - Would love to see more of the Sigerson/Sacker/Hill polycule. An art piece, a ridiculous casefic, comedic domesticity, anything!

Crossovers between Holmes universes:

Rathbone films/The Great Mouse Detective - So you know how the clip of Holmes and Watson talking in the background of The Great Mouse Detective is a clip from the Rathbone and Bruce radio show episode of Red-Headed League? This suggests that Basil and Dawson exist in the same universe as the Victorian versions of Rathbone Holmes and Bruce Watson. But I’ve never seen any crossover of the four! So what I’m saying is, show me all of them together! Are they solving a case that affects the future of mankind and mousekind alike? Or are they just hanging out? It doesn’t matter what they’re doing, I’d just love to see them as a quartet. Maybe Moriarty and Ratigan are plotting something together. Toby is there. Basil of Baker Street/just about anything Holmes - While I imagine the Disney ones to specifically coexist with Rathbone and Bruce, it is inherently funny to imagine little mouse versions of just about everyone. Could My Dearly Beloved Detective’s Shirley and Jane have little mouse ladies cosplaying them and taking after their techniques? Does the world of They Might Be Giants have a mouse convinced he’s the fictional character Basil, and a doctor mouse named Dawson who falls for his delusions and for him? Either way, if there isn’t a mouse-based crossover in existence for it yet (I do already know of great ones for ACD, Emerald, and Without a Clue), then I’d love to see it - and if you can get the human and mouse counterparts to interact, all the better.

Mr. Holmes/Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century - The Holmes of Mr. Holmes seems like the one out of all of them who might most like a second chance, even if it was in a rather dystopian future. Maybe Roger and his mother were the ones who preserved him in honey, so he could do just that? Regardless, I’d like to see his reaction to being resurrected again as a young man, and trying to do right by robot Watson the way he wasn’t able to with the human one.

Crossovers with other fandoms:

Now, I belong to what my many group chat friends and I have jokingly deemed the Poijeeveseyrafflock fandom - that is to say, the Superwholock of classic popular British literature, consisting of Poirot, Jeeves, Lord Peter Wimsey, Raffles, and Sherlock Holmes. As such, any crossovers with any of the Holmes fandoms I’ve listed above and any of these fandoms would be immensely loved and appreciated! Could it be an AU where Holmes, Watson, Raffles, and Bunny all attend the same public school? Do Moran and Moriarty rent a temporary flat in New York, that just so happens to be neighboring a ditzy dilettante and a strangely intimidating valet? Was Jeeves a Baker Street Irregular as a young boy? Could “Wertie Booster” get framed for murder, leaving Ryunosuke Naruhodo and Herlock Sholmes to investigate the truth of the crime? (Can you tell Jeeves is my favorite of these five? I am the one running the Jeeves Substack, after all…) If you somehow made some sort of multicrossover, I’d probably lose my mind. But I’d be happy with any crossing over within this group! (And in terms of shipping, I’ve got a penchant for Raffles/Bunny, Jeeves/Bertie, Poirot/Hastings, and the Wimsey/Harriet/Bunter/Parker four-way polycule. Haven't read much of Wimsey yet, though, I admit!)

I am also a big P. G. Wodehouse fan outside of just Jeeves, and his non-Jeeves series don’t get enough love. So if you’re feeling especially obscure, I would adore a Holmes-Ukridge or Holmes-Psmith crossover of some kind, particularly given the titular characters’ penchant for committing chaotic, amusing crimes. Obsessed with the idea of Holmes and Watson having to put up with these guys. (And in terms of shipping, I love Ukridge/Corky and Psmith/Mike/Eve/Phyllis... though admittedly I am not quite caught up with Psmith yet. Can you tell I like polyamory?)

Special requests: There are some things I don't want - anything involving infidelity, incest, or Holmes and Watson being permanently separated for any reason, for example - but a big one is Holmes being attracted to the opposite sex in the vast majority of cases. The only exceptions here are Moriarty the Patriot (since Holmes is canonically into Miss Hudson - but I don't want it to only focus on that), Sherlock Hound (again, both Holmes and Watson seem to crush on Marie a bit, but again, don’t want that to be the only focus), They Might Be Giants, and The Return of the World's Greatest Detective (since those are just universes where Holmes's beloved Watson happens to be a lady, and those movies are super cute so I'll allow it lmao). But beyond that, let’s be real. I’m a certified Holmes lover. A Holmosexual, even. So whatever you give me based on my ships, tags, etc. (or even if you do something based on my existing fics, which would also be more than welcome!) is something I’ll probably like. So my special request is, just have fun with it! (I would be very happy if both parts of my exchange involved less-written-about fandoms, though - I love to read them and I love to write them! Doyle and Ritchieverse Holmes are amazing, but the little guys need more love! But I will still certainly be happy with either of those two, especially if it's a crossover or less-written pairing. I'd also be happiest if the person I write for had specific prompts, as open-endedness can send me into Panic Mode. But again, it's a preference, not a requirement!)
