*happy cries* Oh my gosh, I wanted something warm and compassionate for the season, and you delivered on so many levels!

First off, I was OBSESSED with Don Bluth's Secret of NIMH, so to see a genius from another great mouse-and-rat world devastated by Jonathan's death and too exhausted to work on the underlying mystery is so moving. And are those bullet holes on the back wall (Basil does love shooting things...)? Basil's (world)weariness is beautifully done here, with his bow fallen and his violin silent at his side. And Dawson's sweet attentiveness and affection for Basil, offering what he can by way of comfort, are poignant and lovely.

Thank you for this beautiful gift and for linking these beloved two worlds in my heart and mind. I think they're inextricable now. Kinda like Basil and Dawson. <3

I saw casefic and GMD and I immediately thought of NIMH (another mouse-and-rat world, yes!) and it took over my brain! I took a chance on you being a fan and for some reason I felt pretty confident in that being the case. Yes…that’s a bullet VR up on the wall! But what struck me most about your request was wanting something “earnest and genuine that feels meaningful and specific to you as a creator”. I was in a pretty bad place for several weeks due to a number of problems I could not/cannot solve that left me exhausted. I put my hope in time, friends, and fandom seeing me through to comfort me in much the same way Dawson does here. I got through it. And my poor Basil will too. (As an aside…and perhaps a hint…Basil plays the violin backwards using the bow in his left hand and that drove me crazy!) I am so very, very happy you liked this. Happy Holmestice!
