holmestice | Summer 2022 Prompt Fest!

As announced earlier, we'll have another open prompt fest this June! Treats, prompt fills, sequels or inspired-bys, and whatever Holmesian projects you'd like to share. Works do not have to be exclusive to Holmestice. Works will not be anonymous, and have no minimum requirements. Works may be posted at your convenience to the collection (HolmesticeSummer22), which will go live on on June 1 and stay open for further posting until June 30. Alternatively, any time between Jun 1 and Jun 30, works may be posted directly to the Dreamwidth community.

We are also hosting a prompt fest! Please leave your prompts here in the comments, one prompt per comment.

In the comment subject line, please include:

universe (including "multiverse" or "any verse")
characters or pairings (or "gen" or "none")
medium, if applicable (e.g., "vid" if you're suggesting a vidsong),
warnings (if you're prompting squicky or triggering content; for example, noncon, suicidal thoughts, bloodplay, etc.)
optional short description (e.g., "only one bed", "racebending", "Reichenbach", etc.)

I'd really love to read a fic with either John or Sherlock stopping the wedding, either right before or during the ceremony. Mary doesn't have to be *evil*, but she's definitely not a total sweetheart. Kidlock or not, not particular on that, just Mary is basically out of the picture. Humor, angst, hurt/comfort, or any mixture of them. Please NO noncon, extreme kinks, suicide, abo, or incest. 😊 Basically a John and Sherlock happy (ish) ending!

A fun fic with a mystery involving something paranormal. Ghosts, witches, demons, etc. At first Sherlock is very scientific about it but by the end, he "mostly" believes.

I loved how this show went completely wild on the historical occult references, and also implied that their fictional version was kind of orgy-ish and sex magick is real, and Sherlock, John, Alice, and Mycroft were all in.

Doesn't have to be sexual but I do crave that Victorian occultist secret-society vibe.

An important person has died,and it is discovered that the wrong body is in the casket at the visitation. No one knows who it is, or where the real body is. Mycroft brings the case to Sherlock. John and Sherlock take the case and realize their feelings for each other during the case. Post S4. Humorous and some angst of course.

This is quite vague, but I like works touching on them doing or wearing things that aren't traditionally masculine. Like a Watson who sews, a Holmes who likes wearing dresses and shawls, that sort of thing.

John and Sherlock trapped in a seemingly dire situation (sealed container running out of air, room rapidly flooding with water, locked in a freezer... you get the idea) and struggling to voice their feelings for each other before it's too late. Bonus points for lots of pining and bad communication and desperate kisses.

Driving home from a case somewhere out of town, Sherlock takes a wrong turn and absolutely refuses to admit that he could possibly be wrong. He has extensive maps in his mind palace, after all! In his refusal to back down, Sherlock gets them more and more hopelessly lost.

Ok so, Soviet Holmes Hound of the Baskervilles made Watson and Sir Henry out to be total bros. I'd be so interested to see fic or art depicting them just having a blast and Watson trying to ease Baskerville off his worries from getting murdered by a glow in the dark doggy. The premise is that Holmes and Watson are in a magical library, and there is a magic bookmark that enables them to go into the worlds of not just the Sherlock Holmes stories, but certain other classic works of literature. The problem is that Moriarty has a bookmark of his own and has been making trouble and stealing things in all these worlds, which alters the plots considerably, and Holmes and Watson have to clean up the mess he's made while pursuing him.

I've played through as far as the Aladdin storyline. I'm especially looking forward to Treasure Island, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and the Edgar Allan Poe stories. It's a fun little game with some good character interactions and some amusing Easter eggs, like the way the captain of the flying monkeys in the Wizard of Oz world keeps calling Holmes "Dr. House."

I can't wholeheartedly recommend it because it can be frustrating if you don't want to spend money (I confess that I have, and I'm properly ashamed).

but it would be so fun to see some fic or fanart set in this world. Even if you haven't played it, have fun imagining what it might be like!

What if Moriarty is actually the 'secret' Holmes sibling and he's using Eurus as a cover? It would explain why he's obsessed with Sherlock and jealous of John. Fix it, alternative TFP. Happy johnlock ending or at least promising future implied. No mcd.

whether you believe it or not, it's a great premise!

Consider S4, where Sherlock is blaming himself for Mary's death. Would he use his scientific knowledge to alter his body to help Rosie get the nutrition she should have had? Of course he would. Would he be willing to put himself through it? Absolutely. Would John be madly impressed by this level of devotion? Yes.

(I only ask, no Mary-bashing please. I don't usually like readings of her as a villain)

In order to be able to focus on taking down Moriarty's web, Sherlock deletes John and their life together. The last person in the web that he has to take down turns out to be Mary/Moran. Sherlock returns to London and the showdown takes place at the wedding. Sherlock is in disguise. Of course he doesn't recognize John but John recognizes him. Shock, angst and mayhem ensue. Action, love declarations, smut, happy ending Johnlock.

This has been a favorite idea for a long time for me. 😊
