Verse: Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson (1980)
Characters/Pairings: Holmes/Watson
Rating: G
Summary: A domestic scene
Artist’s Note: I hope you like my gift as much as I've enjoyed creating it for you! Pickering's Watson is also one of my favourites, it was an absolute delight to read all your thoughts about him (and his Holmes) and get to make art for this lovely verse.

***SCREAMS QUIETLY INTO MY HANDS***

AAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaa, it makes me so, so happy to see their sweet sardonic little faces! I was thrilled at the thought I might get a Whitehead/Pickering gift this round, and even more thrilled now to see it -- this encapsulates their vibe so wonderfully!!! For me, they are a couple defined by their Significant Glances, and you've drawn their expressions so *perfectly.* They have such a sense of equality and mutual delight and you've captured that somehow. I love this knowing gaze -- this almost-kiss -- as they lean into each other. I love their wedding rings, and the gorgeous smoking jackets, and the fine china only awaiting the morning's marmalade! Both of their profiles are so full of character, and there's something about the way you've drawn Pickering!Watson's eyes in particular, with that half-lidded look, the subtle raised eyebrow and deadpan expression, that just *zings* with the real energy of this show.

This ticks so many of my boxes: domesticity and established relationships and unspoken feeling and a love that feels lived in. And I think I can honestly say it's the first art I've ever seen for one of my very favorite Watsons, and Holmes/Watson pairings. I'm so happy you happened to love these two as much as I do. Your painting is a delight, and I am delighted <33333333

Oh, this is delightful! Their expressions, their body language, the china!! It's all lovely and conveys the depth of their contented relationship so well.

There is no way any comment could top Rachelindeed's, so I will just say this: you have somehow made them smug or sardonic, and utterly intimate, both at the same time. AND THESE TWO SHOULD NOT GO TOGETHER, yet here we are.

Simply delightful.

Oh stars, this is absolutely gorgeous! You really managed to capture the actors' likeness in your style, especially Pickering. The colours are gorgeous, that assortment of blue teapots, plates and cups really gives a domestic atmosphere to the piece. What else to gush about, the tenderness in the way their hands touch? the softness in their locked eyes? the way they seem to gravitate towards one another? I fear there aren't enough words in the english language for me to express it fully, so my incoherent screaming will have to do. Thank you, so, so much for sharing your art with us.

I am not familiar with this version of Holmes and Watson but I don't care, this is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! The colors choices go so well together, with blue being the general tone but still feeling warm enough. I adore the contrast between the sharp lineart and the texture of the watercolour stains and added crosshatching patterns on their dressing gowns and the background. It really helps marry all the elements together.
BUT CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE CHINA SET?! This is such a perfect example of clean simple silhouettes and intrinsic, small detailed patterns... it's only when I zoom in closer that I notice what I think is white lines over blue stains creating the effect of blue china patterns. I could stare at this painting for hours, drinking in the textures and the warmth.
