I will create:
A fanwork of the following type(s): fic, vid, podfic
In one or more of the following parts of fandom: tbd
For one or more of the following relationships: tbd
I like working with one or more of the following categories: tbd
With any of the following ratings: 1) suitable for general audiences; 2) non-explicit sexual content; 4) mild to moderate violence or depictions of non-sexual mature themes
I am willing to create for the following squicks and/or kinks: None.
I want to receive:
A fanwork of the following type(s): art, fic, vid, podfic
In one or more of the following parts of fandom: ACD Canon; any of the sources in this vid (except BBC Sherlock) or this vid; Mystery Queen, The Irregulars; Enola Holmes (Springer series), Kurland Moriarty series, Mary Russell series, Warlock Holmes, Watson & Holmes comic.
For one or more of the following relationships: Femslash of your choice, or gen focusing on a female character. OFCs are fine.
I like stuff in the following categories: Fluff; Angst with a happy ending; Post-Reichenbach; Alternate Universe; Romance; Hurt/Comfort; Established Relationship; Crossover; Friendship; Humor; Case Fic; First Time; Canon Divergence
With any of the following ratings: 1) suitable for general audiences; 2) non-explicit sexual content; 4) mild to moderate violence or depictions of non-sexual mature themes
I wouldn’t mind any of the following squicks and/or kinks: None.
Please include further details about what you’d like to receive:
Do Not Wants: death, torture, whump, non-con. Vidding-wise, I’m sensitive to shaky-cam-like motion and rhythmic fade-to-blacks, please see my most recent Dear Festividder letter.
Wants: I like old and deep relationships with a lot of history in them; people who know each other very well but still occasionally mistake each other's meaning and intentions. That said, first meetings, new friendships, and falling-in-love can be wondrous, too. I very much prefer people attempting to rise to the occasion or being generous with each other. In general, I find the question of what one does with loving someone far more interesting than whether one loves someone. All this is as true for friendships and found family as it is for romantic relationships.
I’m also a big fan of intertextuality, talking back to canon, unreliable narrators, canon as a constructed text, and the great unwieldly mythic legacy of canon and its adaptive traditions… These things are catnip to me, and if you’ve got some idea you want to play with, please do! Same with crossovers and fusions — if you’d like to bring in an adaptation/book series not mentioned above, feel free to reach out to the mod email and inquire. (That said, I’m not keen on a BBC Sherlock fusion, thank you.) If you’re interested in doing an extra-Holmesian crossover,
grrlpup can give you insight as to whether I know the other canon or not.
If you find specific prompts helpful: I’d love to see an intimate story or art about how the women of ACD canon understood their own cases, or how they put their lives back together after. How did Mary Sutherland make out, not being told about her parents’ machinations against her? Did Mrs Ronder ever find peace or happiness? What became of Kitty Winter after her prison term? Do Mrs Hudson and the landlady of the Red Circle find they have something in common? I’ve always had a soft spot for Isadora Klein, too — she really shouldn’t have to suffer the attention of men she’s broken up with, even if Holmes thinks that makes her cruel and cold.
Or you could do something multiverse-ish, a comparative study of the many, many Mrs Hudsons or Irene Adlers (that would work very nicely in a vid!). Or in fic, have the various Mrs Hudsons (Adlers, Violets, et al) meet up through a space-time rift, join forces, and solve crimes / whip those boys into line. Another vid-friendly topic could be a study of the various female clients of one or more of these adaptations -- Granada is the obvious choice, but far from the only one.
Or if you want to give me a case-fic featuring the female crime-solving protagonists of these various adaptations, that would be jolly, too. Or an established-relationship H/W story/art/vid for one of the adaptations where they’re both female… Or a crossover between two or more of these adaptations, such as Enola mentoring Mary Russell...
For podfic, please choose any story you love that meets the above and for which you have the permission of the author to podfic it. (You hereby have my permission if you'd like to podfic any of mine). It's fine if you choose a new-to-me story; I like hearing new stories.
I know these prompts are TERRIBLY open-ended; feel free to inquire at the mod email if you want more guidance. But I really do enjoy quite a lot of things, and I prefer you to create a story/art/vid/podfic of your heart. Show me your enthusiasm and passion about the women in these stories, and I look forward to sharing it with you.
Special requests: None.
