[personal profile] holmesticemods posting in [community profile] holmestice
Thank you so much for another wonderful round of Holmestice! The mods want to say THANK YOU to all the creators who joined us for this, our twentieth round -- especially given how tumultuous these last months have been. Being in this community with you is a joy and an honour.

Reveals and the Master List go up on June 20th. Until then, please enjoy and comment on all the lovely fanworks. Creators, please do NOT respond to Dreamwidth comments or post your works elsewhere on the Internet until reveals go up in the community. You may of course reply to comments on AO3, which preserves your anonymity.

In the meanwhile, stay tuned: treats are coming up! For anyone thinking of making a treat, we will accept treats right through until reveals, so if there's a prompt that inspires you, please have at it! Just use the regular submission guidelines and send your headers to holmesticemods@gmail.com.

If you'd like to guess who created what in this round, here's a list of all the contributors for the main gifts. (You'll have to put in some extra work to guess the treat-makers!) Go ahead and take a guess! It's all in good fun.

Go forth and leave love for your fellow Holmestice authors, artists, podficcers, and vidders! See you again on the 20th, when we reveal who made what!

Last thought from me for the night... This is all I've got on the treats so far, but: do we concur that the BBC vid "Person of Interest" is by rachelindeed? :D

And in the interest of striving to register as full a slate of guesses as possible, a last frantic swing at the treats!

In addition to, as mentioned above:

Person of Interest (BBC, vid) – rachelindeed

I'll go ahead and suggest:

The Conductor of Light (ACD) – nahirholmes

...this is based on the strength of not much more than a few em-dashes, but I felt a need to register *some* kind of guess.

And:

An Excerpt from Blood Relatives (Mary Russell, podfic) – oldshrewsburyian (offered podfic AND Mary Russell!)

The podfic treat for this round doesn't sound to me like Oldshrewburyian's voice and cadence. Compare to this podfic which she made for one of gardnerhill's stories in a previous Holmestice round:

Mentor podfic by Oldshrewsburyian for gardnerhill

That does make sense...seeing as the podfic was me. ;-)

Seriously, though, way back before posting even started (because I am a dork) I *scoured* the sign-ups for anyone I could falsely accuse of having created either of my works, the art and the podfic! It was so hard!

As you saw with the Mary Russell art, I did seriously consider you as someone I could *pretend* I thought had made "This Meeting of Like Minds" but I didn't expect anyone to go for it, for exactly the reason you yourself pointed out. ;-)

And for the podfic, I listened to examples of everyone I could find, and I 100% agree with you that I sound nothing like OldShrewsburyian (nor you, nor sanguinity, who were among the very few other suspects). I totally would have tried to pin it on gardnerhill (given that, as graycardinal pointed out, gardnerhill often offers podfic, but doesn't seem to have any previous examples of it out there) but everyone knows gardnerhill would never do Russellverse!

Turns out I have a very hard time disguising myself, even working in a wildly different form that surely no one would expect me to turn up in.

Hee hee! Meanwhile, when I saw that graycardinal was trying to pull in both me and gardnerhill as pseudo-suspects for his own Russell-verse crossover this round, I thought: my gosh, he's desperate :P

Yes, that's the rub when it comes to podfic -- you only get to go unguessed once! After you make one, you're very guessable for all future contributions. But it's also one of the nice things about podfic; you're allowed not to worry about being guessed! There's something wonderfully relaxing and nice about that, too :)

I knew your Oldshrewsburyian guess was wrong, but it never occurred to me that the podfic was yours! Mostly because I was assuming that, like most treats, it was made after the fest had begun. And your time was so fully accounted for with all the research and guessing, I never imagined you'd have had time for a polished extra work (music and everything!) in a brand new medium! WELL PLAYED.

Aw, thank you! :D

...and of course now that you've said that, I'm tempted to try to figure out a way to make another podfic but disguise my voice. But I will try to restrain myself from such further ridiculousness!

Use a voice modulator, like Laurie Anderson and TV-kidnappers use. I'm on the record for threatening to use one: if you go on the record too making the same threat, then the guessers will have a fifty-fifty chance about which of us it is.
