Author's Note: This story is set on the tail-end of His Last Bow with Holmes and Watson reuniting after two long years apart. The author has taken the liberty of canon divergence, where Watson - the unreliable narrator - actually retired to Sussex with Holmes. There are brief mentions of the oncoming Great War, but no war scenes.
