Please include further details about what you’d like to receive: I'd like me a plotty story with a happy ending and no on-screen sex. Fade to black if you have to or keep it to two or three paragraphs tops, please. Asexual characters are love. You can get as angsty or fluffy as you like as long as I get that happy ending. (And please don't kill Mycroft. Also, please, please no amnesia fic.)

As for more elaborate prompts: I prefer John rescuing Sherlock to the other way around. I'd love to see the two of them go all BAMF-y together on the bad guy(s), each of them playing on his strengths to form one kick-ass team. I'd also like to see Sherlock's more approachable side as a flatmate, e.g. making sure the utility bills are always paid on time or dragging John off to random events or bringing home the odd present because he saw it and thought John might like it. In the Granada series (or Canon, I don't mind), I'd like to see Holmes teach David Burke!Watson his methods and Watson trying earnestly to replicate them while Holmes looks on fondly. In general, I'd love, love, love a Canon story that focusses on all the ways they fit together (think all those sideways glances and private jokes in the Granada series) and how much Holmes has grown to rely on it, preferably with a slashy bend. Skin hunger is always awesome. As is Granada!Lestrade. And any version of Sherlock Holmes not impeccably dressed.
