Entertain me! I enjoy everything on this list — some I have a swell of affectionate feelings for (Sherlock Ferret!), some make me laugh (Dinosaurs!), many are both — and I’d love to see whatever you choose to do with them. Keep the original humorous tone or apply unflinching realism and earnestness — I trust you to know what works best for your vision! Just make something that delights you, and I expect to love it, too.
I’m giving you a free hand with ‘ships: avoid incest ships please, and I’d rather not think about what Sherlock Ferret and Watson Mouse do in bed (hence my preferred ratings topping out at “non-explicit”), but if you want to explore the undying love between Whale!Holmes and his Watson, go for it, just don’t make me pull out the brain-bleach. Also, I am at heart a multi-shipper: my affection for Holmes/Watson won’t be injured if you ship Spookhouse’s Watson with Miss Sutherland, I promise. I’m always down for a good femslash ship (if you can find one), and I’m just as happy with gen — you’ll notice I’ve written a ton of it myself.
Things I particularly enjoy, which may or may not apply to your vision: people rising to the occasion and doing their best by each other, crack written in perfect earnest, meta-textual explorations of canon and its adaptations, nuance and complexity and subtle humour. I prefer hurt/comfort to go heavy on the comfort, and angst to have a good portion of light in it. (Bittersweet is about as grim as I enjoy.) I am, actually, a perfect romantic sap, and there are never enough math jokes in anything.
I do ask that you avoid “ironic” or “humorous” racism (the Fu Manchu plot in Elementary My Dear Watson, the African villagers in Peerless Peer), and the same with “humorous” homophobia (if any of these sources have some that I’ve forgotten about).
