Complex characters with shades of gray. PWP is fun in its own right, but we also love a slow burn where the tension is as much about developing emotional intimacy as it is about the physical. Also like the strength, mutual reliance (and hotness) of settled relationships. Emotions during sex. Sex in general, and many kinks, especially with BDSM flavors: we love bondage and domination that hits the emotional and psychological elements, not just the physical practices and props. Explorations of consent and trust.

Complicated hurt/comfort. Intense emotion. Broken/jaded people. Secretly needy people. Smart but unwise people. Fics that take unexpected turns, or tweak one element of a familiar character in unexpected ways.

Possible fic prompts (but we're happy with anything our random lists inspire in you):

Sherlock is a touch-telepath or touch-empath, but hates the chaos of other people's thoughts/feelings, and thus has done all he can to avoid touch ever since it first manifested. So it takes a while for skin-hungry Sherlock to realize that John is immune to being read.

AU where, when not solving crimes, Sherlock lives in a BDSM lifestyle club to satisfy his need to control his inputs. As long as he follows club rules, he can demand no one speak to him or that someone rub his feet, and not have to explain or negotiate or argue over it like he would in the outside world. But he avoids building relationships with club employees or fellow members, until...?

John is a thrill junkie because he cannot die. The bullet in Afghanistan technically did kill him, but he got better, as he always does. How old is he, really? Does he meet Sherlock differently? And how traumatically does Sherlock discover his secret?

*Regarding AUs: We like AUs but don't have a lot of interest in vampire/werewolf/supernatural creature or Alpha/Beta/Omega. But feel free to explore "what ifs" (for example: John is the consulting detective, or Sherlock can speak to the Tower Ravens). We didn't hate S4, but if you'd like to canon-diverge before Mary gets pregnant (without fridging her!) that would be fine by us.
