I like working with one or more of the following categories: character studies, case fic, behind the scenes at the Met or in Westminster, pastfic, missing scenes, exploring the nooks and crannies of canon, exploring pre-canon backgrounds of the characters, and Holmes family drama. I'm entirely agnostic about season 4, so can write to either ignore or include s4 show canon. And if I'm familiar with the time period, I'm willing to take a stab at historical AUs (though not Regency, sorry). I've always wanted to take a stab at a sports or politics AU, recognising I'm probably the only person in this fandom mad enough to think either could possibly work.

Trope-wise, I like case fic, politics (of any kind), espionage, canon Mycroft pulling the strings, smart people being snarky and super-competent, Greg and Sally being really good cops, moral ambiguity, behind the scenes at the Met or in Westminster, past turning points in characters' lives, unreliable narrators, plot plot and more plot, women driving the action, and Holmes family drama.

1. Please no Moriarty, Moran, Irene or Eurus. They're complete back-buttons for me.
2. If you choose to write Mycroft, please don't do the much-too-common fandom thing of dumbing him down, softening him up or generally trying to romanticise him. He is not Mr Rochester; he is a deeply flawed and unpleasant man. And he is awesome just as he is.
3. Please no Bitch!Sally. If you think she's a bitch simply because she doesn't like Sherlock, I'd appreciate it if you didn't include her in your fic. They don't need to be friends (even less realistic!), but her disdain is based on entirely valid criticisms of Sherlock's behaviour. Wary, arms-length, grudging mutual acceptance is the preferred line for me.
4. Please no BAMF or Bond-girl not-Anthea. She's more than super enough as she is without the cheap bells and whistles.
5. I have no interest in fluff, meet-cute, gender fuckery or other standard romantic tropes, neutered to fit a Gen match.
Would love to receive something touching on one of these, if they provide any inspiration (but don't feel you have to write one of them):
1. Sherlock's early years as a detective: how/when did he decide to get into this line of work? Did he just fall into it, or was it a conscious decision? What was his family's response?
2. The Holmes family in the years immediately after Musgrave. For example: How did they cope with Sherlock's trick of forgetting he had a sister? Or was this his parents' idea? And what about that mysterious Uncle Rudy, eh?
3. Mycroft and Lady Smallwood have known each other “a long time”. How did they meet and what did they think of each other? What professional shenanigans did they get up to back in the deep dark past?
4. Just who is not-Anthea? What makes her tick? What does she do for fun? Anything that fleshes out her character would be great.
5. If you're feeling adventurous: I'd love to receive a job-swap AU: how would not-Anthea cope as, say, a DI or a military doctor? What kind of “British government” would Sally make? Lady Smallwood as a medical school professor? This is my “go wild” prompt.
Special requests: I have no faith in my ability to fulfil requests that include Moriarty, Moran, Irene or Eurus, as I don't think I'd be able to disguise my complete boredom with them (unless the request is to kill them in a grisly “accident”). Anyone requesting humour, fluff, or cute will be sadly disappointed by anything I might produce.
