I will create:
A fanwork of the following type(s): fic
In one or more of the following parts of fandom: Books: Doyle - Canon; TV/Film: Granada TV Show; BBC Sherlock (I'll do my best)
For one or more of the following relationships: Any of the canon characters in their traditional relationships, or introduce a non-canon character into a romantic relationship with an established character
With any of the following ratings: 1) suitable for general audiences; 2) non-explicit sexual content; 3) mild to moderate violence or depictions of non-sexual mature themes;
I am willing to create for the following squicks and/or kinks: alcohol/drug abuse; self-harm; suicide; character death;
I want to receive:
A fanwork of the following type(s): fic
In one of the following parts of fandom: Books: Canon; TV/Film: Granada TV, BBC Sherlock (no cross show/medium shipping)
For one or more of the following relationships: Any of the canon characters in their traditional relationships, or introduce a non-canon character into a romantic relationship with an established character
I like stuff in the following categories: Case Fic; Expansion of established ACD tale; character study; historical fic;
With any of the following ratings: 1) suitable for general audiences; 2) non-explicit sexual content; 3) mild to moderate violence or depictions of non-sexual mature themes;
I wouldn’t mind any of the following squicks and/or kinks: character death
Please include further details about what you’d like to receive: I am a traditional Holmesian and really appreciate when writers are able to create a tale that echos the style of ACD or the Victorian time period. I prefer clever, or cheeky humor to overly dark or brooding. But, there is nothing wrong with a serious piece and if that's your style - go with it! I look for stories that bring out additional details on Holmes and Watson's lives, or that fill in a gap in an existing canon story.
Special requests: This is my first Holmestice Exchange, so my requests/preferences are pretty vague. My Fanfic is all ACD canon based and some of my general fic is Victorian historically based, so, "that's my lane." I really hope to deliver whatever the reader wants!

Does "traditional" mean canon, or something else? If it does mean canon, then you're referring to Watson/Mary, yes? Is there another relationship you have in mind, too, or only Watson/Mary?
And I take the second part to mean Anyone/OC, yes? (Where "OC" means Original Character, and includes both male and female characters.) No preference as to same-sex or heterosexual relationships?
Also, are you open to gen stories (i.e., no pairing), or do you only want stories with a romantic or sexual pairing in them?
Thanks so much!

Date: 2018-09-20 03:59 pm (UTC)Greetings - I guess my description was my way of saying that I’m not into all the shipping between characters, sexes, worlds, whatever that goes on in Holmesian FF.
I am looking for Gen stories placed in the canon setting. In terms of relationships, I am primarily looking for the established canon relationships, but am not entirely opposed to a new non-OC is introduced as a heterosexual romantic interest (simply to give the writer a little creative freedom).
I hope that clears things up a bit - a lot of the terms being used are Greek to me (Urban dictionary thank you!) so I was vague partly out of ignorance.
Just let me know if I’m still missing the mark!

Date: 2018-09-20 05:00 pm (UTC)And yes, the language of shipping can be a bit daunting when one first encounters it! I recommend fanlore.org as a resource: unlike Urban Dictionary, it's fandom-centric and often provides context with its definitions. Or you can always hit us up with your questions, about this or anything else. We're always happy to help!

Thanks so much!

Date: 2018-10-04 11:45 pm (UTC)Hi I’m out of town and won’t be able to respond until Tuesday. Is that ok?

Date: 2018-10-05 12:34 am (UTC)However, we need the categories sooner than that, because we use them in matching, which is happening right now. But perhaps this will make it simpler: the categories you asked for in a gift were "Case Fic; Expansion of established ACD tale; character study; historical fic." Can we assume you're offering to write much the same as what you asked for as a gift?
