Oh, Anonymous Treat Giver, if you had only heard the yelps of amazement and joy with which I greeted this! And that was even before listening. I was reduced to joyous squeaks and hand-flapping afterward. (Though perhaps it's just as well you didn't hear said yelps, as I may have deafened everyone in the vicinity.) :^) I just love this -- your voice is beautiful and you read so well.

Thank you! Thank you! I can't stop smiling.

ETA: I MIGHT HAVE KNOWN. Rachelindeed, this was a lovely present from a lovely person. Thank you again, so much. I don't know how to convey how much this delighted me.

Hee hee! I am so very happy that you enjoyed it, ancientreader! It was my first podfic, and though I know it's not perfect I am glad the spirit of the thing came through; I did have a wonderful time making it. Your story never fails to cheer me, and that section toward the end where John and Sherlock talk about how John figured out the truth about him through his website remains, for me, very unique and very beautiful.

It's a special pleasure to make a gift for a friend - thank you!

You have a lovely delivery: measured, sedate, with lots of space for us to consider the images. It matches very nicely to [personal profile] ancientreader's writing style here -- her one-word sentences, the minimally-described humour... You give her rhetorical devices time to land and be duly appreciated; I almost think they work slightly better in your voice than they do on the page. (I will rush when I'm reading the page, and you keep me from doing that.) And your delivery is very certain, too -- no tentative readings, no fumbling with anything... I felt very well-cared-for as a listener. :-)

And it was a lovely choice of story, too -- I haven't made my way into ancientreader's back-catalog yet, and this was a treat of a story, thank you.

Thank you so much! It was so nice of you to listen and I'm very glad you enjoyed both the reading and the story :) Ancientreader writes so well in such a variety of styles, and when she dips into humor it's always a delight. This one feels to me almost Wodehouseian at times - "two cups; Mr. F. MI5 isn't getting any" - and yet it turns on a dime from humor to more heartfelt passages about grief, romance, relief and a wondrous sense of safety as two people find such unexpected comfort and allegiance in each other. I hoped that taking my time over the comedy would make the transitions in and out of the more earnest drama feel natural. I'm so glad you felt that it worked out for the best :)

Thanks again for your lovely comment! And there's always more to discover in ancientreader's back-catalog, lucky us!

Delightful. I've read a bit of ancientreader's catalogue, but not this, and I've enjoyed your reading enormously. You captured the wry humor of the story perfectly. Thank you! M.

Thank you so much, both for your lovely comment here and also for your message on tumblr! It was so nice of you to listen and I'm delighted that you enjoyed both the reading and the story :) The combination of humor and heart that ancientreader wove into this fic makes it a favorite of mine, and I had a blast reading and rediscovering it again :)

Just really echoing everyone else's comments ^__^ You have such a great delivery and you bring out the subtleties of the story perfectly. ancientreader is right - you do have a beautiful voice, but you always make sure we hear the story and not the voice. I enjoyed this so much.

Still kind of sad you don't have that English accent though ^^
