Now, now, my formal beard for that story (if we must use that term) was obviously marta_bee, per the actual guess. All else is commentary, albeit entertaining commentary, and you had to know what you were getting into when you voluntarily put on a moderator hat.
Also, if you read far enough down in that original thread, the cookies from that round were a reward for accurate deduction, not a recompense for some perceived slight. If I were handing out cookies this round (a prospect not raised at all during the guessing phase), I would arguably need to send some to several of the players upstream -- at least one of whom is on another continent entirely, which would involve non-trivial sums for shipment. Logistics therefore make the issuance of genuine cookies, as opposed to virtual ones, an impractical reward in the present case.
The suggestion that cookies should be assessed as a penalty for inaccurate deduction is equally impractical; if that were applied equally to the full pool of guessers, a great many of us would be doing more baking than writing for the next several weeks, and we would become a cookie exchange rather than a story exchange. (Also, you would get comparatively few cookies, since nearly all the actual guesses made about your contributions to this round were correct.)
Having said all that, mind you, the compliments on that one batch of cookies are nonetheless graciously accepted....
