[personal profile] holmesticemods posting in [community profile] holmestice
Sorted by category and fandom, all the amazing fanworks created by this year's participants, for your perusal and entertainment and finally with the names attached. Now comments can be answered and works reposted all over the web, and pimping shall commence far and wide!

Recipients: while it's in no way a rule and requirement to comment on your gift (and most of you have done so already), it is nevertheless highly encouraged. Someone created something especially for you, and the least you can do is say thank-you, even if you yourself had to drop out.

If you haven't added your fanwork to the AO3 collection, and you want to, you can add it here: Holmestice Exchange - Summer 2017.

And now, without further ado, the Grand Reveal!

Oh, good gracious... ^_______^

I would never have guessed [personal profile] language_escapes had written my gift fic. I'm flabbergasted ^___^ And [personal profile] capt_facepalm writing a Sherlock fic..? Have I stepped into a parallel universe? I had just come around to the idea of them being sneaky and leaving a comment on their own ACD fic. But apparently the sneakiness went far, far deeper ^_^

Thank you so much to the mods for all your hard work. I appreciate doing this round on a new platform must have been stressful. And well done to all participants. Lots of wonderful works, and there's been such a community feel to everything. I particularly enjoyed this round's guessing post ^__^

Hah, when you and [personal profile] starfishstar were trying to track down [personal profile] capt_facepalm yesterday, I was waiting waiting waiting for one of you to put together that an ACD-gen offer constrains the match but not the work, and to track them down that way. But nope! They got away with it clean! ;-)

And [personal profile] language_escapes flummoxed everyone!

(But she owes me cookies for using me as a beard!)

...an ACD-gen offer constrains the match but not the work... The embarrassing thing is that I knew this objectively - I learnt that lesson through Rachel's Murder by Decree fic. And I've done it myself - writing a WaC fic when I hadn't offered the 'verse. But I'd got so used to capt_facepalm writing ACD gen that it just never occurred to me they'd choose to write something else ^^" A reminder to be a bit more open-minded next go round ^__^ Well played, [personal profile] capt_facepalm. Very well played.

I mean...I certainly I know some folks will write beyond what they offered (look at all the small-fandoms madness of Whitehead Holmes and such! and in my very first Holmestice, last time, I too wrote a pairing and genre I *never* would have generated on my own if my recipient hadn't requested it). But a certain subset of folks were so very specific about their writing preferences that I thought for sure they'd stuck to those. Heh, nope! Next time I will know better. :-)

Aaaah! It is a thing of beauty!

I'll be back over on the guessing post in a moment to flail a little more in both excitement and dejection about the things I got wrong and right, but first I want to say:

What fun this whole thing was – writing, reading, commenting, guessing. Such a big THANK YOU to the mods. Holmes would be proud...but even more, I suspect Watson would understand and appreciate the work you do behind the scenes.

This has been so much fun! Thank you so much to the mods for making this work, even with the shortened schedule, and giving me the chance to participate. :D
