Fake husbands or boyfriends (be it for undercover reasons or uncomfortable family gatherings),
Sherlock meets John's army friends
John impresses the hell out of the yarders at a friendly paintball match
first time fics are my favourites,
lots of pining and obliviousness and sexual identity crisis are encouraged,
also demisexual Sherlock or John
John and/or Lestrade (and awesome big brother Mycroft) dealing with Sherlock's drug addiction,
 surprise!BAMF!John (where OC(s) - or any Sherlock BBC character(s) - think John is harmless and are proven spectacularly wrong),
Sherlock (and/or Mycroft) is super impressed by John proving to be really smart and/or competent in a way that exceeds his(/their) expectations about him,
either Sherlock or John (or Lestrade? or both/all? ) is a dragon or werewolf or vampire or an alien :) - maybe Sherlock's awful at social interactions, has a weird taste in food, drags dead things home, misuses furniture and does odd things in general because he is the wrong species (and/or from another planet) :).
John has a tattoo (or Lestrade?)
No matter what AU, I'd still prefer things to be somewhat in "the normal universe" though, where John is still an ex army-doctor (or something close) and Sherlock is still a detective. Or, you know, they appear/pretend to be those. In case of aliens or such.

If all of the above sounds boring or wrong, just hit me with anything you feel like writing that's not on the super no-no list, and I will be happy, I promise :)

Please no:
unhappy ending, main character death (of the final kind), mpreg,  genderswap, major involvement of babies, main pairing cheating on each other,
Sherlock or John being much younger or older than they are now (like high school AU or retirementlock), entirely AU stories (like "Sherlock is a barista, John is a very shy florist, and they meet at the Justin Bieber fan club, and they have absolutely no interest in solving crimes" or something )
