More things I like (they didn't seem to fit with the categories or kinks; these are just things I like in stories, fan fic and otherwise):

a little intensity, hand-jobs in the bath, sleepy mornings, light D/s theme, little scenes of characters impulsively taking a moment to dance or kiss or something that softly shows the feels the couple has for each other, quiet love-making on a sleepy morning, plot before porn, poly relationships (well written and realistic: see 'plot before porn'), characters staying within character (especially if we're talking ACD canon), steampunk AU

and Sherlock specific stuff I like: competent!Greg, getting-married-for-a-case, a John Watson who was more than just a soldier training to become a doctor (especially if whatever skills he was taught comes in handy for a case), Sherlock and John making a life together, secretly dating Mycroft and Greg who are then amused whenever anyone discovers it because they really weren't hiding it, plot of cold-war-esque intrigue involving things the public will never know about, parent!Sherlock, parent!John, army husband!Sherlock

And things I don't like: alpha/beta/omega trope, scat, golden showers, weight/body/image issues and the mental issues associated thereof, a lot of angst or fluff, plots where characters discover and then angst over their sexuality, mpreg, dark!fic, dark!characters, past/present/future abuse, focus on addiction, character bashing, dismissing past relationships (unless the plots deviates into an AU and the plot deviates at the point before the relationship happened), crack/humorous plot, animal/creature/shapeshifter AU, extreme violence, excessive pet names, sex toy use, lengthy sex scenes that are basically "Character A fucked Character B like this", dirty talk, big-to-do about who tops and bottoms/characteristics determining who is a top and who is a bottom/topping or bottoming a defining characteristics, character death, non con, dub con, breathplay, pyschological trauma, romanticizing

Honestly, it's the Evil Plan that broke me. You're going to build a submersible, to-scale, fully-functioning Kraken automaton... to raise money to build a fully-functioning T-rex automaton... to steal some of the raw materials you'll need to build your flying, fire-breathing dragon simulacrum? Wouldn't be a lot less fuss to take the money you spent on kraken development and just buy the things you need for your dragon machine?

And if you have to create something that will steal things so you can get the money you need, why not something inconspicious? Less likely to attract attention? Ugh.

...there must have been a plot within that plot somewhere. The kraken (and the t-rex, and the dragon) were the biggest, flashiest, most-expensive smokescreens ever built.

I am gonna spend WAY too much time thinking about this, aren't I?

I'm just imagining that Moriarty must have been gleeful that with all these distractions going on, he can do so much more. I mean, c'mon. The whole of London going crazy over the "monsters" -- it's a damn good chance to get some other crime done.
