BAMF!Watson and/or Competent!Watson is always a plus. Competency in general is awesome, actually. Lestrade is always a welcome addition to a story, as is Mycroft. I enjoy the 5+1 format, telegrams/letters, Victorian details, intelligence, bravery, stoicism, wry humor, and, well, most of the things that make Holmes and Watson Holmes and Watson. I do prefer our heroes to be the focus of the fic; feel free to add OCs or focus on secondary characters, but please don't forget the Holmes and Watson, even if they're offscreen/offstage for goodly chunks. I
Things I’d prefer not to read: Anything heavy on torture, violence, or non-con. No kid!fic, heavy angst, or people (particularly the main characters) being horribly awful/unrelentingly miserable/unfaithful/betraying each other, if you please. I’m not a huge fan of unhappy endings as a general rule.
That all being said, if you write your story well, I’m fairly flexible as a reader, and I’ll probably love it. I want you, the writer, to have fun!
