I want to receive:
A fanwork of the following type(s): fic
In one or more of the following parts of fandom: Books: Doyle - Canon
For one or more of the following relationships: Gen/Friendship
I like stuff in the following categories: Friendship; Humor; Crack; Case Fic; Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence; Anthropomorphism; Adventure; Epistolary
With any of the following ratings: 1) suitable for general audiences; 4) mild to moderate violence or depictions of non-sexual mature themes
I wouldn’t mind any of the following squicks and/or kinks: None

Please include further details about what you’d like to receive: I’d prefer not to have Moriarty involved in the story (apart from perhaps references to him). Other than that, I don’t mind which character or characters take centre stage. I like comedy but I would be equally happy with something more serious. With regards to Holmes and Watson: their relationship is important to me—I’m not comfortable with it being trivialised or diminished in any way. I definitely wouldn’t want a major character death as part of the story (even Mary’s—though, of course, the story could take place in the period after Mary has died), and would prefer not to have an unhappy ending. (Willing to go as high as “bittersweet”.)

Here are some prompts. Please take a look at them if you think they’re going to be helpful. Please ignore them if they’re not!

Mrs. Hudson writes a magazine article about an average day for her.
Holmes has his Irregulars; Mrs. Hudson has her network of landladies…
Holmes and Watson go undercover in the chorus of a light opera. (I’m working my way through a Pirates of Penzance obsession at the moment but it doesn’t have to be Pirates.)
An ensemble adventure—as many of the major characters as you can cram in as possible.
I love anthropomorphism: maybe a fic from the point of view of the famous objects that have their home in 221B?
Mrs. Hudson and Mrs. Watson (the former Mary Morstan) solve their own mystery.

3GAB: a look at Mrs. Maberley’s adventures when she goes on her round the world trip.
SECO: I have a lot of sympathy for Lady Hilda. Something from her POV? Does she ever confess to her husband what she did?
HOUN: “I was exceedingly preoccupied by that little affair of the Vatican cameos, and in my anxiety to oblige the Pope I lost touch with several interesting English cases.” A look at the possible friendship between Holmes and Leo XIII? I’m assuming Holmes wouldn’t have been Catholic himself but these two highly intelligent men may have found some common ground.

Special requests: I can write more serious stuff but I’m at my best at the lighthearted, humorous end of the spectrum. And regarding romance: for me, “romantic” is automatically followed by the word “comedy”, and “sex” is automatically followed by the word “farce”. And even the kissing happens offstage. Probably best not to pair me with somebody who’s hoping for a profound examination of emotions and the human condition. Also, I would prefer not to have to write about Moriarty, though I can do so if necessary. My fic will probably be in the 2,500-3,500 word range, so I don’t think I’d suit someone who loves long fics.

Sorry to just appear, but I am curious, having looked at your prompts- have you read The House at Baker Street, by Michelle Birkby? I ask because you indicated an interest in Mrs. Hudson and Mary Watson solving a mystery together, and since that's the plot of the series... well, I was just curious. Forgive me for butting in! :-)

I... am never on LJ, hence the LENGTHY delay in my reply... I am terrible.

Aww, no nervous new kid! This is a great little comm, with lotsa great people. I was a newbie... four, five rounds ago? and have never encountered anything other than delightful folks. I hope you've been enjoying your experience, and that your work is going well as we approach the deadline!

I actually loved all your prompts- so focused on the women in Canon that we never see again! Those are my favourite kinds of prompts. :-)))

If you read The House at Baker Street, let me know what you think!
