I will create: fic, vids
In the following parts of fandom: BBC series, A Study in Emerald; for vids also The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes and possibly the 2009 movies
For the following pairings: BBC: Molly/Moriarty, Sherlock/Irene, John/Sarah, John/his other girlfriends, Kitty Reilly/Richard Brook, Sherlock/Molly, Molly in crossover pairings; The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes: hints at Sherlock Holmes/Fräulein von Hoffmanstal; 2009: John/Mary, Sherlock/Irene, I could try very implicit Holmes/Watson/Mary; Gen!fic for all characters and all other canons
I like working with the following categories: Gen, het; crack, fluff, humour, kid!fic (when the characters were kids rather than when they have kids), introspection, character study, unusual fic-styles (i.e. letter/diary/texts/web content/...), magical realism, fairy tales, action/adventure, strong female characters, creepiness (if Moriarty is featured), AUs, crossovers (especially with Cabin Pressure), minor characters, back stories
I am willing to create for the following kinks: None.
I want to receive: fanmix, vids, fic
In at least one of the following parts of fandom: BBC series, A Study in Emerald, The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, crossovers or AUs based on ACD canon
For at least one of the following pairings: BBC: Molly/Moriarty, Sherlock/Irene, John/Sarah, John/his other girlfriends, Molly/Irene, Kitty Reilly/Richard Brook, Irene/Harry, Molly/crossover pairings (e.g. Martin from Cabin Pressure), Irene/any; The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes: hints at Sherlock Holmes/Fräulein von Hoffmanstal or Sherlock Holmes/his fiancée; gen!fic for all characters and all other canons
I like stuff in the following categories: Gen, het, femslash; crack, fluff, humour, kid!fic (when the characters were kids rather than when they have kids), introspection, character study, unusual fic-styles (i.e. letter/diary/texts/web content/...), genderswap, magical realism, fairy tales, case!fic, action/adventure, strong female characters, creepiness (if Moriarty is featured), well crafted AUs (preferably with some magical / supernatural / fantastic / mythological touch), crossovers (for example: Doctor Who, Cabin Pressure, House MD, Discworld, Neverwhere, ... – best to simply check my list of interests), dark!fic, minor characters, back stories, asexuality (if dealing with Sherlock/Irene)
I wouldn’t mind any of the following kinks: None please.
Please include further details about what you’d like to receive:
GENERAL:
Please don't be shocked by the lengthy explanations that follow. I'm just trying to give you an idea of who I am and what I (dis-)like in fics and other fanworks and hopefully provide you with some kind of starting point for your story. But feel free to pick and choose prompts or ideas you’d like to work with. :-)
I'm not really a shipper in the usual sense of the word, i.e. I don't necessarily ship the pairings listed above with a huge focus on romance or sex (though of course you can!). I’m mostly just interested in these particular characters’ dynamics. So if you’re more happy with gen!fic for any of these character combinations, by all means feel free to just show me some interactions between them without shippy undertones. I promise I won’t mind! :-) (Also gen!fic for any single of these characters or in fact any other character would be great!)
DO NOT WANT: h/c, smoopy romances or lengthy declarations of love from characters who usually don't talk about their feelings at all. No porn or NC-17 fics, please. No Reichenbach angst or suicidal John post-Reichenbach, please. Overly sad or angsty fic. While I don’t mind character death in general, I don’t like fics that solely focus on everyone else being sad about someone’s death.
THINGS I LIKE:
I really like fics that focus on character study, character development and interactions / relationships between characters. However, you can also make me very happy with clever plots and surprise twists or elaborating on background stories. I also like fics that provoke thoughts and make me ponder about questions of morality. I like stories that haven't been told before - either focussing on minor and usually neglected characters, using an unusual setting or giving a familiar story a new and unexpected twist.
I love a little humour (or a lot if it fits the fic), either humorous banter among characters or a humorous tone of narrating the story, and if that’s your thing you could try subverting common tropes for humorous effects. Clever use of or play with fandom or general storytelling tropes. Allusions to other fictional / pop cultural works. Or (if you think you could manage that) I would love some clear narrator (like in fairy tales or - more recent examples - Amélie or Pushing Daises). If you could capture the spirit of the latter two examples, I would love you forever! <3
I really enjoy AUs and crossovers at the moment, so you could make me happy there. Crossovers can include, but are not limited to Doctor Who, Cabin Pressure, House MD, Discworld, ... If you find something else on my journal or my list of interests that fits your idea, feel free to use that fandom instead. I like both crossovers and fusions (or AUs that lean on other canons) and I have a soft spot for crossover pairings featuring Molly, especially if she gets a really nice and caring boyfriend (say Martin Crieff or Rory). I'm also very fond of crossovers with other works by the same actors or with works set in the same time period. That especially goes for crossovers based on ACD canon! (In this case you could also make them meet real historical persons. That could be endless fun.) Or crossovers with other works set in London: Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere comes to mind - surely Sherlock with his connections to the homeless network would know about London Below?
For AUs, I prefer them with a slightly magical touch. Like fairy tales or using a classical fantasy setting or maybe a Steampunk AU. Or “simple” magical realism would be great, too. And have I mentioned Neverwhere? :-D
In The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, I really enjoyed the relationship (if you can call it that) between Holmes and the woman (you know who I mean :-P). Maybe they continued writing letters? Or just show us glimpses of how they've influenced each other's lives? The stories behind the casual mention of Holmes' fiancée or the murderess would be interesting, too. I also really love how snarky this version of Holmes is. :-D
If you want to write in the “A Study in Emerald” ‘verse, please know that while the above is still generally true, I’d really love any story set in that universe! Scary or dark fic with a Cthulhu-monster-hunt? Funny shenanigans with the acting troupe? More about Moran and Moriarty and their standing in the society? Adventures of Holmes, the revolutionary? Re-inventing other characters like Irene Adler in the context of this universe? All is awesome, as are world-building stories or character-studies of these slightly different versions of our known characters... I just want to know more about that amazing universe! :-D
(And if you wanted to write a BBC version of “A Study in Emerald”, I'd pretty much love you forever...)
fanmix: I admit that I'm a huge fan of pretty much any fanmix! I love to get to know new music - but I actually don't know very much music, so it should be easy for you to surprise me with something. The only kinds of music I don't like is very depressing and sad music (at least if it dominates the fanmix), very electronic music and rap. Otherwise feel free to find exciting new music for me! :-D I love both fanmixes that actually tell a story and fanmixes which resolve around a single character, pairing, story or episode and give them more depth. Having a fanmix about Molly or Irene (or why not Molly/Irene?) would be fun, as would be fanmixes for A Study in Emerald or The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes. But these are only some ideas...
vid: I love fanvids that tell a story or let us see a new angle on a known story, for example through the use of unexpected music or clever editing. I'd love a crossover fanvid - could be crossover between various Holmes canons (a random idea: A vid that showcases the similarities between Private Life and Scandal in Belgravia) or something completely different. Doctor Who maybe? Or some show featuring one of the actors on a different role? I like humorous or cracky vids, but serious ones are just as great if they are well made.
Special requests: I'd really love to try my hand at vid-making this time. I like working with specific prompts rather than with vague likes. Also, I usually write gen and while I am willing to include all pairings listed above, I can’t write anything even remotely sexually explicit. So it might be best to match me with someone who isn’t hoping for much sexual content.
