We've had a few people request help in finding beta readers (or whatever it's called for art/graphics) for their Holmestice works. This post is available for people to volunteer to be a beta reader. If you'd like to volunteer your services, please comment on this post with a statement about what you're willing to beta (fandoms, pairings, do not wants, etc.) and a way to contact you.
Just a reminder, make sure the person you ask to beta for you isn't your recipient. I know it should go without saying, but stranger things have happened!

Date: 2012-10-21 06:18 am (UTC)Me: English teacher, editor, native American English speaker, in Europe for over 20 years
Fandoms: Sherlock BBC, ACD Holmes, Ritchieverse
Strengths: Technical issues (spelling, grammar, punctuation), general writing issues such as continuity and flow, characterisation
What I will beta: Any one-shots under 10,000 words, John/Sherlock (will also accept John and Sherlock in other pairings as long as the resolution is Johnlock), all ratings, completed fics only
What I will not beta: WIPs (important! This means all chapters of your rough draft must be finished before I will look at your fic; this is not a cheerleading offer), any pairing with Moriarty, Mystrade, femmeslash, hard kinks (watersports and the like), cruelty to animals or children, incest
What is negotiable: Longer chaptered fics, genfic (depending on the character and genre), other rare pairs not involving John or Sherlock
Also: I can do light Britpicking, like for spelling and some vocabulary but cannot help with cultural points. I am not an expert on Victoriana, but I will do my best to ferret out anachronisms in ACD verse. I am fluent in German, so I can also help with any scenes where characters might use German. And I live in Switzerland, so I can Swiss-pick if you have scenes involving Reichenbach or other visits to Switzerland. Turnaround time is usually 24 hours (or less) for shorter pieces, a few days for longer ones

Date: 2012-10-21 12:43 pm (UTC)Strong points: I work in graphic design, can help with everything technical (photoshop, animating things, colouring, ...)
Though by no means I'm perfect in drawing anatomy or perspective, I'm pretty good at spotting when and why something doesn't work. =)
Not so strong points: English is not my native language, but I'm willing to do quick paintovers or redlines etc. to get my point across.
Please bear in mind that it might take up to 5 days until I can return your art to you.
Also, I grew up in Vienna, so if your Holmes meets Freud or something, I'm your woman.no subject
Date: 2012-10-21 04:20 pm (UTC)I can normally do a quick turnaround, but couldn't promise that every day. Contact via PM on LJ initially.
And if you have any questions, then please ask.

Date: 2012-10-21 09:00 pm (UTC)I can only do BBC Sherlock, as I haven't read ACD yet.
Things I think I'm pretty good at picking up in others' writing: awkward/unclear sentences, dropped words, word choice, obvious grammatical/spelling errors, inconsistent characterization (I don't mind a certain level of OOC-ness as long as it's consistent within the story).
Things I know I am no good at: teasing apart the details of casefics, plot consistency in general unless it's a truly glaring error.
I am fine with any pairing and enjoy PWP stories. I have a soft spot for Holmescest and John/Lestrade/Sherlock in addition to the usual Johnlock. I am fine with dub-con/non-con and BDSM stories.
PM via LJ is best for contacting me initially. I can probably have it back to you in a day or two.
