Okay, I'm about to post a lot of stuff--feel free to ignore most of it (except for, uh, the DNWs.) But I like having lots of options when I do exchanges, so feel free to...graze.

DO NOT WANT: Character bashing of any kind, schmoop/fluff, mpreg, incest, non-con, major character death, cheating (it's fine to have Watson/Mary as the background in a Holmes/Watson fic, but only if she's good with it. So, adultery's fine, but cheating is out.)

I like post-fake-death reunions (which obviously apply to Sherlock, but could also apply to Irene, or to John), and I like pining and UST and everyone trying very hard to feel differently than they do, with no luck. I like intrigue, and criminal activity (either catching criminals or being criminals), and I like unlikely team ups, and emotional polyamory (I ship Irene/Sherlock and John/Sherlock equally hard, but I don't ship Irene/John even within the context of a threesome.) I like banter, and angst, and Irene being cool and smiling and in control and Sherlock being snappish and defensive and secretly longing--but I also like John and Sherlock being quietly and fiercely devoted to each other on whatever terms they think they can have. I love friendship within pairing fics--and I love all the ensemble characters on BBC Sherlock (in Ritchie, I should say that I also really love Mary, and background John/Mary is fine. encouraged.) I like case files and improbable-but-in-character AUs, and I like magical realism and I like romance that doesn't ever run smooth. I like complicated sex--I like Irene and Sherlock having an s&m type sexual relationship while both of them still primarily identify as gay and/or asexual. I like John still identifying as straight while being in love with Sherlock. I like it when there's sex, but sex isn't crucial--intimacy and love, however, are brilliant. I like "brainy is the new sexy." I like it when people express affection in actions rather than words.
