1. DO NOT WANT: scat, watersports, character death, pwp, out-of-character, too much fluff (a little is fine, but I prefer realistic relationships), overly possessive behaviour, pain play, humiliation, unhappy ending (doesn't have to be 'ride-into-the-sunset' kind of thing, but it should not close darkly), dark fic, confused-about-sexuality, dismissive!Sherlock, clueless characters (they can be at the beginning, but no sudden 'OMG I love you forever' kind of epiphanies or a fic that takes the entire length for one character to get that the other is in love with him), teenage-angst-pining-forever charactizations (they should all be grown up)
2. Having said the above, I'm pretty open to anything. Case fic is love as is friendship fics and asexual characters. Sherlock and John (they don't have to be in a relationship, but for both characters:) choosing to not define himself in traditional labels and merely accepting that he is what he is. A John Watson who brings to the 'war in London' (to use Mycroft's choice of words) all the skills of a soldier who is used to combat situations that defy what an untrained human being can handle while still being just a normal guy. Case fic that features spy plots and uncover work. A John and Sherlock who know each other's weaknesses and strengths and use that to their advantage. John and/or Sherlock seeing why Lestrade was promoted to DI and continues to be one of Scotland Yard's best and admiration turns into something more. A fic that is balanced between case and a relationship still in the early years (characters learning each other and learning how to be in a relationship with the other). Slice of life where they solve cases together and in the downtimes are just two unmarried men (though not necessarily bachelors) who share a flat-bills-groceries, etc. Character study and the contrast of Sherlock (chaos) and John (order) and how while it may lead to the occasional argument, means a balance.
Special requests: I'm really not good a writing case fic even if I love reading them. I've a talent for writing fics where John and Sherlock only have an epic friendship that defies the contemporary definition yet still is a friendship. I'm not so good at writing Sherlock's POV. I've not seen S2 yet, though I know the bare bones--I don't mind writing post-R if the other doesn't mind not having that mentioned except in passing as I don't know the details.
