The sign-ups are now officially open! Go all out and have fun!


Please note that for the Northern hemisphere, this is a summer exchange, but in Southern parts it may be rather cold. Still, the assumption may be t-shirts and short sleeves; if you absolutely don't want to receive a summer-themed gift, please note so in the do-not-wants of your sign-up post. Likewise, art and stories don't need to have anything to do with any type of warm-weather activity unless the recipient specifically asks for it.

If you want to take part in the exchange, all you have to do is join the community and create a new post with your gift request. Please use the following template:

You can edit your post until sign-ups close on April 18. Anything you add or delete after that will not be taken into account.

All stories have to be a minimum of 1,000 words in length, icon posts should contain at least 10 icons. Any type of fanwork is required to go through some kind of beta process. All finished fanworks must be sent to the mods at holmesticemods@googlemail.com on or before May 20. If you haven't submitted your work by then and have not contacted us for an extension, we will automatically look for a pinch hitter.


Please remember that if you sign up to receive a gift, it'll only be fair if you create one as well. That said, if you have to drop out of the exchange for any reason, please e-mail contact one of the moderators as soon as possible or e-mail us at holmesticemods@googlemail.com so we can find a pinch hitter to create a gift for your intended recipient. If you need your recipient to clarify hir prompt or ask if ze's all right with that one particular thing you'd like to work in, please contact us, and we'll forward the question to preserve your anonymity.

TWO IMPORTANT THINGS

1. For simple lack of time, we are not pimping this anywhere except cox_and_co. If you want to advertise on any other LJ communities, we'll happily send you virtual kittens and cookies. If you live nearby, you're welcome to hop on over and I'll hand you an actualfax cookie.

2. There will likely not be a December exchange this year.

FWIW, I don't think it's wise of me to sign up for this round directly, because I'm heading into finals, but if you have a list of potential pinch-hitters, can I be added to it? The pinch-hitting season will coincide nicely with me having just finished my term. :)

Gen is cool! Pairings are cool too--I can actually pretty much write any pairing other than incest pairings or Sherlock/Moriarty. Seriously, bring it. I will admit, though, that I have a special place in my heart for femmeslash and John Watson/ladies, but I'm down for pretty much whatever.

I can write Holmes/Watson or Sherlock/John from gen bromance up to NC-17 slash. I would take an ACD canon prompt as my first choice, but I would also be more than happy to write BBC Sherlock.

I will go even farther than the volunteers so far: I will write anything. Any pairing. Any trio, quartet, quintet, or grouping. Any scenario, from the innocent to the smoldering to the kind of thing people can't un-see.

And I don't offer lightly -- see also my "Doctor Dances Darkly" series.

I'm most familiar with BBC!Sherlock, though I've done ACD!Sherlock (in full Victorian prose) and have even been mistaken for RDJ!Sherlock. From The Great Mouse Detective to Young Sherlock Holmes to any of the other sub-fandoms, bring it. If it bears even a remote resemblance to Sherlock Holmes, I'll take it.

Make me look stuff up and sub-reference. I delight in trying to match styles and in getting pitch-perfect dialogue. Literary? Not a problem. Canon-bending pairing? Cool. Too scary for anyone else to tackle? Hand it to me.

I will do up to five, because I tend to be long.

*does deep stretches and sharpens rapier wit* I love a challenge.

Anything else is... dull.
