I love things set in the Retirement Era, with Holmes beekeeping and Watson pootling about and them generally having a nice peaceful time whilst still madly in love. In Coules-verse, if the Secret Love Confession gets a mention, I might just scream (positive).
I strongly read Holmes as autistic. Anything including that reading would be lovely.
I also enjoy reading Holmes as a transman, or nonbinary, or gender nonconforming. It would be nice to see any of these included.
I feel like the world needs a Holmes with Withnail energy (as in Richard E Grant’s character in Withnail & I). Just utterly chaotic genius.
In ‘The Copper Beeches’, Holmes says that he would not want to see a sister of his accept the situation Violet Hunter is about to. Just how many Holmes siblings are there?
Looking at the fallout from ‘The Devil’s Foot’ and ‘The Three Garridebs’ would be interesting. Perhaps Watson realises that Holmes too has been pining all these years.
Essentially, anything with a happy ending will make me happy! I like a bit of mutual pining and angst, so long as it all gets resolved.
I’ve recently read a pastiche called The Patchwork Devil, written by Cavan Scott. Without spoiling it, it’s essentially a cross-over between Holmes and Frankenstein, involving retired Holmes and Watson getting pulled into an investigation that leads to creatures like Victor Frankenstein’s. I’d be interested to read another take on bringing the two universes together, if you’re so inclined.
In the Rathbone universe, I love Holmes and Watson wanting to protect each other. Holmes’s tendency to get himself into situations is brilliantly ridiculous. I’d love to see something where Watson rescues Holmes sort of by accident, but Holmes is tremendously proud of him anyway. Rathbone Holmes’s fondness for Watson is chef’s kiss.
In the Sherlock & Co universe, I love the idea of Sherlock and Watson being in a QPR. Any exploration of that, perhaps with them taking care of each other in their own unique ways after a hard case, would be great. Sherlock’s autism and Watson’s acknowledgement and accommodation of his difficulties are so important to me in this adaptation.
For art, in addition to any of the above ideas, something inspired by any of my fics would be amazing. I’m particularly fond of the scene in my fic ‘The Quiet Spaces’ (Chapter 5) where Sherlock gives John a cool rock and John confesses that he’s fallen in love.
Things I do not want are any references to vomit.
Special requests: Nothing in particular. I’ve been quite into writing AUs (e.g. different time periods, actor/playwright, fantasy/magic), so I would be happy to be matched with a recipient who is looking for something like that. Thank you for all your hard work, mods!
