oh man your comments are the best, the best, I feel I need to point out that you can actually also tell me what you don't like? you can actually do that.
I sort of found myself wanting to write the whole story of the Giant Rat, the actual case that theoretically precedes this fic, but decided a) I would write it terribly, having never before tried doing a case fic, and b) the original idea was that even in a story literally called 'the giant rat of sumatra for which the world is not yet prepared' you'd never get to hear the entire story. and I think I described the case too much as it is - i.e. the tale of the giant rat of Sumatra should remain untold, except to the bunch of adorable offspring and young relatives. Also c) it was a pinch hit and I didn't have the time but that's a boring reason.
lol sherlock and Derren Brown. Did you see the thing on his blog where derren's minions made a list of the most derrenbrowny TV characters - hang on here it is (http://derrenbrown.co.uk/blog/2010/11/top-10-derren-brown-characters-screen/). Sherlock is on the list, Derren Brown's minions say "A poor decision not to include goatees resulted in 3 people nearly losing their job, only to be saved by rampant use of waistcoats." I don't think that even makes sense, icr any waistcoats unless they mean they saved their jobs by wearing waistcoats themselves
LESTRADE: I think this is my headcanon too? I can see him as gay or straight or bi, married or divorced, partnered or separated, but I cannot see him as anything other than awesome with kids and having a couple of his own (or at least having nieces and nephews) who he reads endless bedtime stories to and sometimes these stories are the latest escapades of John and Sherlock.
