Do Not Wants: death, torture, whump, non-con. Vidding-wise, I’m sensitive to shaky-cam-like motion and rhythmic fade-to-blacks, please see my Dear Festividder letter.
Wants: I like old and deep relationships with a lot of history in them, people who know each other very well but still occasionally mistake each other's meaning and intentions. I like people loving each other generously and attempting to rise to the occasion. In general, I find the question of what one does with loving someone far more interesting than whether one loves someone.
I’m also a big fan of intertextuality, talking back to canon, unreliable narrators, canon as a constructed text, and the great unwieldly mythic legacy of canon and its adaptive traditions… These things are catnip to me, and if you’ve got some idea you want to play with, please do! Same with crossovers and fusions — I’m familiar with many of the screen adaptations, and I’m happy to do some homework and read/watch a thing if you think there’s rich ground there. (That said, I’m not keen on a BBC Sherlock fusion, thank you.) If you’re interested in doing an extra-Holmesian crossover,grrlpup can give you insight as to whether I know the other source or not.

Sherlock Ferret (Ashton): I loved the ferocity with which Ferret defended Watson from Colonel Moorhen, and would be delighted by Watson having the courage and resourcefulness to return the favour. This cast is so utterly charming that you could focus on any of them, with anything from tooth-rotting fluff to skin-of-their-teeth adventures, and I expect I would love it.
Mycroft Holmes (Adbul-Jabbar & Waterhouse): I’d adore something Douglas-centric. The genesis and growth of Douglas and Mycroft’s relationship; the emotional fallout of the events of the novel; further adventures with Douglas and Mycroft; Douglas and Mycroft tussling over Mycroft’s civil service position; Douglas’ opinion of the Diogenes; Douglas meeting still-wet-behind-his-ears Watson; Douglas and Watson during the Great Hiatus… Or, if you have an idea of your own, run with it, please!
Enola Holmes (Springer): Enola is so young in her canon; I’d love to see her maturing into herself, how her relationship with Sherlock develops, whether Sherlock comes to use her as an expert in the areas that he’s weak in. And I’d be fascinated to hear Watson’s take on her: every time she handed Sherlock his ass I was dying to know how much of it Sherlock confessed to Watson after, and how hard Watson laughed. (Mind you, I’m not asking for Holmes-&-Watson centric fic for this source — I’d love the focus to stay firmly on Enola — but I am fascinated to know what Watson made of all this, and what relationship, if any, he and Enola eventually developed.)
My Dearly Beloved Detective: Things I’m curious about: what drove these two to apply for those roles, what stepping into them felt like, if they ever rebel against them, what building their own partnership in the shadow of that wholly-fictional partnership felt like, all of it. Or fast-forward to the other end: what does retirement look like, from roles that are both real and not-real, in a post-atomic world? Or if you wanted to write some Holmes/Watson femslash, that would be lovely, too. With respect to tone, do whatever best serves: stay with farce or dial it all the way to earnest; I trust you to know what works for what you want to do. Vidding-wise I have no specific prompts, but would love to see anything you make!
Whitehead Holmes: If you want a specific prompt, “Travelling Killer” was obviously the setup for a larger story; if you wanted to take that on, I’d be thrilled. Mostly though, these two are my comfort adaptation: I love the banter, the shenanigans, Holmes barely able to break off from trolling Watson for long enough to solve a case, Watson’s absolute determination to keep up and learn all the things. PLUS ALSO MARMALADE. YUMMY YUMMY MARMALADE. Just go do a thing; I know I’ll adore it.
Further Adventures - Coules (radio): I love these stories, and would be thrilled to see interstitials, extensions, aftermaths, what-have-you. Favourite episodes include LION, Gloria Wilson, Cripplegate Square, and Colonel Warburton, but honestly, center your thing on any episode that strikes your fancy, and I'm sure I'll love it, too.
221B Baker Towers: If you want a specific prompt, I’d love an expansion ofsophistry’s “like a spider in the centre of its web,” where the mighty machine poised to crush Holmes underfoot is not some guy’s criminal network, but the mighty machine of state. But honestly, there are so few stories that have been told in the ‘verse to date: give me a story you’re inspired to tell, and I’ll be thrilled to read/watch it.
Mystery Queen / Queen of Mystery Good god, but I fell for this hard when I first watched it. I’ve got OT3-ish feelings about Seol Ok, Wan Seung, and Hong (although probably more platonic than sexual/romantic given the givens?), and would love some shenanigans. For a while I held out hope that the mother-in-law and her cronies might end up as Seol Ok’s Irregulars, and I’d enjoy seeing that fulfilled? But I mostly just want more: the lighthearted frolic, the gut-punching cases, how people care for each other, and the fanservice slathered on with a trowel.
