Oooh, what a great idea, fusing the world of A Study in Emerald with the character interactions (the sniper at the pool...) of BBC Sherlock! And then this aspect of mind control and rewritten history, that the Old Ones have only been here seven years but rewrote everyone's memories to make it seem longer, what a fascinating addition to the already creepy, dark world of Emerald. And all the details of this world, like the abandoned Diogenes Club! So much to admire here.
From the moment Moriarty was suspiciously quick to dismiss the document as “superstitious nonsense,” I wondered if he was going to be the one to carry out the plan, if arresting them was a ruse to bring them into the presence of the queen, and it was very satisfying when it happened. :-)
I'm not sure if this is how you meant the interstitial Jim sections to be interpreted – probably not, probably you meant it the way others have described it above, as an omniscient Moriarty from the BBC world simply relating this tale from the separate Emerald world – but somehow it felt to me like the two worlds merged in the end (maybe it was Jim's "and here we are") and that the world of BBC Sherlock is actually the real world they found them in once the mind control lifted. Either way, really interesting to see the two worlds in dialogue with each other!
