Introducing the Mod Team

Now that Summer 2023 assignments have been sent, let's take a moment to introduce the new(ish) mod team! Under the tutelage of our noble predecessorssanguinityandcobaltblue we managed our first Holmestice last winter. Without further ado, here are your mods:

iwantthatcoat(aka: Iwantthatbelstaffanditsoccupant): A 10-year-old Coat was introduced to Sherlock Holmes when they found their grandfather’s old compilation (A Treasury of Sherlock Holmes) which had them sadly convinced the only stories in existence were those 30. Once a canon-only purist, Coat now revels in any and all adaptations. They live in Denver with their exceedingly large tuxedo cat, Mykie, and their ghost void, Shezza. Their most impressive Holmes street cred is editorship of the Watsonian.

vulgarweed has been active in Holmestice since 2020 and has been in the Sherlock fandom since 2012, probably best known as co-author of the Appalachian AU series The Bone Fiddle and author of the Wicker Man crossover The Straw Man Fallacy. She is a co-founder and mod of the Good Omens Holiday Exchange (since 2005) and a member of the John H. Watson Society, an occasional guest on Three Patch Podcast, and has published essays on Sherlockiana with the Baker Street Babes and in the Watsonian. Other fandoms include Good Omens, Tolkien, and the Locked Tomb.

penaltywaltz has been in the BBC Sherlock and Elementary fandoms for years now, writing fic and making graphics, and once they see the sequel movie, they're considering branching out to the Enola Holmes movieverse fandom. On Tumblr, pennywaltzy runs Sherlolly Secret Santa and Molly Hooper Appreciation Week, and is the main mod on Tumblr and Dreamwidth for WIP Big Bang. They have participated in Holmestice off and on for many years, and considers it a pleasure to be a mod of such a fine community.

sanspatronymic came to fandom in the early '00s. A longtime Holmesian, newly converted More!Holmesian, they started out writing Anne Rice fanfic when it was illegal, then dabbled in a few other fandoms before someone on a Neopets message board introduced them to their Holmes/Watson headcanon (lol, yes, really). Once they had the realization "...omg they were roommates" the rest is history.
