You have such a nice touch for their domesticity, as heard through Mary's voice: very rational, very practical, and yet still with a solid foundation of mutual affection, for all that.
And of course Watson would still be complaining of his war wounds, and yet never mention the one he received at Holmes' side -- and he'd be especially mum if he had the least whiff that Holmes felt in any way responsible for it. (No wonder he published such a sentimental account of it, if he knew Holmes felt that way!)
And now I am curious what Holmes asked Russell the next night. :-)
