Oh my goodness, thank you so much for this amazing comment! It made me so happy to see this in my inbox this morning. Hee hee, I'm glad you weren't looking for my fic among the Ritchie verse offerings, I was trying to be sneaky!
Defenestrate is one of those words that's inherently funny, right? It's rare that one has the opportunity to use it, so I couldn't waste the chance!
Oh, I'm so glad you liked the "Who are you, and where have you been?" line. I feel like that is basically every Holmes's reaction to every Watson :)
Law's Watson is very good at saying "no" to RDJ Holmes's insanity (and then rolling his eyes and going along with it anyway!). I loved having him politely kick Holmes out while arranging another meeting at the same time, on his terms. So it wound up being less of a rejection and more of a "not this way you idiot" moment.
I do enjoy imagining Stamford as a mixture of Emma Woodhouse and Lizzy Bennett. Arranging matches primarily for the pleasure of laughing at them.
It's fond but also a bit prickly, like Watson, and it feels like being invited into the warmth of their friendship.
That is such a lovely thing to say, and it summarizes everything I hoped to do with this story. Thank you so much, I'm really happy you enjoyed this!
