That's a wrap!

Thank you so much for another successful round of Holmestice! We have a few extra treats coming up in just a minute. (And if you're itching to make something else, we are happy to take additional treats right through until reveals!)

The mods want to say THANK YOU to all the creators that joined us for this round of Holmestice. You put in a lot of hard work and made some really great fanworks. If you'd like to post to AO3, you may do so at your leisure. If you'd like a link on your LJ entry, just send us an email and we'll add one.

Reveals and the Master List go up on December 21st, but until then read and comment on all the lovely fanworks. Creators, please do NOT respond to comments (except on AO3, which maintains anonymity) or post your fanwork elsewhere on the Internet until reveals go up in the community!

If you'd like to take a guess at who created what in this round, a list of all the participants is below the LJ cut. Go ahead and take a guess. It's all in good fun.

Back to make a few more guesses.

Chance, Second Chance, Last Chance (http://holmestice.livejournal.com/423418.html) - I think this is by [livejournal.com profile] garonne. The style feels like hers, and her ACD fics do tend to have a romantic pairing. Also, there's something in the header that makes me think of her.

Internal System Reboot (http://holmestice.livejournal.com/425423.html) - Oh, I was so pleased with myself for working out who had written this. I'd put in a comment 'I am in awe of how real you make this world seem', and it suddenly occurred to me I'd put almost exactly the same thing on another anonymous fic in the past - the author now long revealed. So I went to check the sign-up of this particular writer - and they'd mentioned explicitly (^^") that they wanted to write a Holmes/robot!Watson fic. The author is of course [livejournal.com profile] mistyzeo.

Promises (http://holmestice.livejournal.com/427335.html) - Not many people offered New Russian Holmes as a 'verse. Looking at those few participants and thinking of their styles, I believe this to be [livejournal.com profile] sanguinity's work.

A Policeman's Lot Is Not A Happy One (http://holmestice.livejournal.com/428298.html) - One particularly rare 'verse, gen, cleverly written. I think this must be by [livejournal.com profile] graycardinal. They have in fact 'liked' that post but as sanguinity has mentioned here, I do remember the business with the misleading comment from last time...

The Kidnapping of Arthur Daniel Ruskin (http://holmestice.livejournal.com/432088.html) - ACD, plotty gen, casefic. I immediately thought this must be by [livejournal.com profile] capt_facepalm. Also, the formatting makes me think of them too.

Acme (http://holmestice.livejournal.com/434021.html) - Not absolutely certain, but I think this is by [livejournal.com profile] rabidsamfan. The quality of the prose and the style certainly could be theirs. And I think the charming eccentricity of the labelling of the links in the notes could be a small clue perhaps.

That was a truly impressive job of guessing, congrats!

May I ask, what was [livejournal.com profile] garonne's tell? And what was the other work of [livejournal.com profile] mistyzeo's that you had that same reaction to?

Thank you ^__^

Garonne mentions in her header "my anonymous beta-reader". I'm pretty sure she's referred to a beta before as not having an online pseudonym (at ACD Holmesfest). And the mistyzeo fic is The Hungerford Wreck (http://acd-holmesfest.livejournal.com/59258.html) - also first posted at ACD Holmesfest. You can see my full comment underneath, but the relevant sentence is "I'm rather in awe of your ability to use description to create such a vivid world and sense of reality." ^^

Thank you for indulging me! And I agree, Hungerford Wreck was vividly painted indeed.
graycardinal: Carmen Sandiego (carmen sandiego)

Heh. "Liking" and commenting are two different things. In any event, I had absolutely no expectation of faking anyone out this round as to authorship. With [livejournal.com profile] sanguinity being a mod, the best surprise I figured I could manage was to bring in a second stealth canon, and writing those two rare canons in combination...

...let's just say that the pool of viable mystery authors for that story was very, very small. :-)

I very much enjoyed that surprise, btw. I was checking in works when yours came in, and I squinted at the headers for a while wondering what you were up to. Then I went and re-read my sign-up to see if I could figure it out, and eventually decided I had no idea but that you must have taken me at my word when I said make-a-thing-I-trust-you. And whatever it was, if it had made you laugh that hard, it would probably make me laugh, too. :-)

(And then I let one of the other mods queue it so as not to spoil my surprise!)

Well spotted in my case. Writing is such a drain that I am much too busy to even attempt subterfuge. And yes, the mis-placed, commas, type-os, use of the Oxford comma, and other chaos are all indicative of my distinctive formatting. ;-)

I did in fact mean the elegant way you split your fic up into numbered sections ^___^
