Okay, I've had time to read it more slowly now and take notes about a bunch of bits I particularly liked.

I loved being in Sally's POV, and learning about her family. Among others, I like Susy, and I like Reg. Sally having a Sherlock fangirl niece is SUCH a perfectly delicious concept. :D Embarrassing for her and Sherlock, both!

I like that Sally changed her mind some about Sherlock over the course of the story, but not to an unbelievable extent; they're still not going to have an easy time working together, and she still doesn't really understand a number of things about him, and isn't charmed by him. (and reasonably enough, I'd say!)

The suspense of the case was really well done!

I was completely tickled by the meta-ness of the discussion around Sherlock's wardrobe (does he have a whole wardrobe full of coats? why yes, it turns out he does! and the PSoS! hee!).

Some lines I particularly loved:

A flurry of long limbs explodes from the front door to wrap itself around Sally.

Sally finds herself incredibly beholden to the cheap plastic steering wheel for existing and allowing her to clutch it so hard she fears for its continuing.

It’s a post-modern ballet of the man doubling over to study an unremarkable heap of dirty snow through his magnifier and whisking out a zip bag to collect something undefinable from the half-frozen sludge covering the tarmac. The next instant he bursts into a run at Olympian speed only to draw to a halt ten metres on to drop to his knees and sniff – literally sniff – a clump of sodding grass while measuring it with the aid of a measuring tape. -- such a good portrayal of the way he moves on the show!

Lestrade returns from his sojourn to the Scilly Islands looking satiated and faintly smug and as excited as a teenager in love. -- hee! you go, Lestrade!

“You’re welcome,” he says, folding his long fingers around Susy’s small hand in a firm grip. “It was barely a three but you were a better victim than most.”
“Not dead,” Susy states and that draws a faint smirk.

Thank you, again!
