I love how they don't entirely know what to do with each other, but they both find things in the other that surprise and unsettle and even delight. Molly's assertiveness and pride hidden under her slightly goofy exterior and Mycroft's caring and builder's tea :) Also, this bit
"Mycroft clenches his jaw. He could crush her under security, he could throw her in a jail cell and dangle the key just out of reach for the rest of her natural life, he could hem her in on all sides until she had nowhere to look but at him, him, him. But her eyes are so brown, and her hands are so small. Her body has no room for guile in it. He wonders what that’s like."
reminded me of one of my favorite passages in Jane Eyre when Rochester says to Jane: "...never was anything at once so frail and so indomitable. A mere reed she feels in my hand!...I could bend her with my finger and thumb: and what good would it do...Of yourself you could come with soft flight and nestle against my heart, if you would: seized against your will, you will elude the grasp like an essence — you will vanish ere I inhale your fragrance."
